Boxing: Could Manny's style, speed, work rate...enable him to land more than anyone ever has on Floyd?

Explain...

It's possible. I mean the toughest fight Floyd has ever been in was against Miguel Cotto. Manny Pacquiao is not Miguel Cotto.

Cotto used his size advantage very well by bullying Floyd into the ropes. He tried his best to keep him there, though it didn't work because Floyd can fight off the ropes. Pacquiao can't do that because Floyd is physically stronger and bigger than him.

Cotto also used his jab very well. It was the most effective punch he used. Pacquiao can't do that the way Cotto did. He also has a shorter reach I believe

Cotto is can bang as well as any brawler, but he is also a very smart fighter. Pacquiao can only appear to be like that when his opponent is a guy who stands in front of him.

Pacquiao is very fast but timing counters speed very effectively and Marquez used that. Marquez is there to be hit though, Floyd is not and he is a superior counter puncher. He doesn't open up enough to be hit so much and he throws few punches to always be in a position to defend.

Pacquiao has speed, but how would he deal with Floyd's speed? How would he counter Floyd's speed? His assaults usually leave him wide open, which Mosley could have used to his advantage if he were that kind of fighter.

He isn't careless like Hatton either so it's not like he would just bum rush him.

but it's possible. I don't think he could but it's possible.

Until they fight, nobody knows. All these guessing on what will happen is just a make believe, fantasies. It all depends on what fighter will show on fight night.

All this time I am searching for the reason why Floyd Mayweather jr. can not fight Manny Pacquiao. All these reasons/alibis were too shallow to be acceptable. I believed that the reason was deeper than what we knew and this could be the one. That Manny's style, speed, work rate makes Floyd have a second thoughts on fighting him especially when his father saw first hand what happened to Ricky Hatton where he was the trainer. There is a very big possibility that Pacquiao will out land Floyd considering when Manny gets hit, he have the tendency to hit back increasing his work rate. Floyd is a defensive guru but Manny being a lefty with fast hand might be able to hit Floyd more than what we expect he will get hit with him having a notable defense.

We knew very well that guessing on the out come of a fight to the point of being judgmental is sometimes hilarious. We also knew very well that there are factors on why a fighter comes out victorious against their opponent and the absence of one or two factors is disastrous to a fighter. With these being said and considered, we can not determine on what kind of fighter will show on that fight even assuming both were on their top condition and well prepared.

Unlikely, even at his peak Manny was simplistic and repetitive and that plays into Floyd's strength. At his valleys Manny reverts back to virtually becoming a one handed fighter which would be a disaster against Floyd.

The only question I had at one point was could Manny's speed transform Floyd from ultimate confidence to fear and take him out early. The problem I saw with that happening was there isn't a big gap in athleticism between the two and Floyd was psychologically superior stepping into the ring than any of Manny's opponents at that time, both would've made that task extremely difficult.

It's possible but you have to consider Floyd has a much better reach than Pacquiao and a quick hard straight right hand that could neutralize Pacquiao and his offense ,that's if Floyd times him right when Pacquiao steps in with his combos and Floyd's counter punching and timing is usually superb.

At the same time ,Floyd cannot afford to make any technical errors against Pacquiao since he throws lots of hard punches. Pacquiao can probably afford to make a few mistakes since Floyd is more of a boxer.

Those qualities of Manny have been in full display since he moved up from the junior lightweights where generally he has been up against relatively slower, less mobile, less skilled ( diminished skill as in the case of Oscar de la Hoya ) but bigger and gamer opponents ( with the exception of Tim Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez, both of whom managed to beat him ).

Those qualities therefore should be considered only in relation to Floyd Mayweather's own qualities ( speed, boxing and counter punching skills, accuracy, mobility and movement and most of all, his boxing's best defense ) and how long Manny can demonstrate those qualities over the course or the full course of their fight.

Sun Tzu's art of war advice recommends that more than knowing yourself, you must also know the enemy well.

watch the pac-mosley fight, also sasakul has more mobility than floyd...

truth is, floyds defenseman still havent experienced pressure from a southpaw volume puncher hard hitting swarmer like pacquiao... for floyd, pac might grow hungry and venomus again, after all the loses and the insults pac suffered, floyd will wake the sleepin pacman, floyd will be the fight pac could prove that his power rules over slick defensive boxers...

sean, you must remember, that style, power, speed and work rate youre talkin about will all come from the opposite side, from a southpaw

and sean, in case pac beat floyd, you and your fun club are free to say pacs juiced and he beat a out of prime floyd.... doesnt matter, they fought and made boxing happy and alive again... fans will give floyd the due acolade for making it happen

He definitely has a chance. Castillo landed, an awful lot on Floyd, their first fight, I believe Pacquiao could do the same. Floyd is the better overall boxer, but Pacquiao fights one way, and that's coming forward, and its a personal fight, so that's why the potential is their.

Yes Sean. Floyd knows that, too that's why he ain't fighting Pac.

To Floyd there ain't no enough space in the ring to run against Pac. That philly shell will break down with continued pounding, then Pac will blow that shiny black bald head off the neck.lol

It's impossible to know until they fight.

Statistically the fighter to land the most on Floyd was Castillo in their first meeting. Castillo landed 3.8 more punches than what he absorbed per round.

Mayweathers arm was injured in that fight.

In their second meeting Mayweather landed only 2 more punches per round than what he absorbed. With that said; Castillo out landed Floyd in power shots by a large number. This means that Castillo did better in both fights than Cotto.

I think Pacquiao can out work Castillo.

DLH and Castillo did the best and landed the most so I don't see why not.

Explain...

Sure, that's why everyone wants to see that fight.

WE WON'T KNOW UNTIL THEY FIGHT.
