Could reason why heavyweight boxing isn't booming like it was be....?

Heavyweight boxing is not booming because of 2 reasons;

1. Outside entertainment. We got accustomed to being entertained in more than just boxing. Guys like Ali inspired the public outside of the ring, he went to his opponents training camp and ridiculed them, he made poems, he couldn't shut up, etc. This hypes fights & sells seats [like Mayweather] After Ali, during Holmes era, boxing lost fame but Tyson, a strong guy with a squeaky voice, brought it back to mainstream.

2. The best boxers today are text-book, not physical freaks. Most people don't like to see boxers who make little mistakes. They prefer to watch guys like Ali, Tyson, Roy Jones & Pacquiao [they dish it out but also get hit allot in return]. A majority of people don't like to see correct boxers who don't take risks.

Mayweather is famous because of the first reason, but people always criticize him for being ''boring'' in the ring [the second reason]. Pacman is famous for the second reason. The Klitschkos are correct boxers who are not entertaining outside the ring, just like Larry Holmes who also fought in a ''boring'' era.

With that said; The Klitschkos are dominating the heavyweight division, Vladimir WILL retire an all time great, he has FAR MORE title defenses than Lennox.

Joe Louis was the only exception i could think of to the 2 rules. He was 1 of the most text-book heavyweights ever and he was very boring outside the ring but he was still famous, the reason being is that he was the first black champion since Johnson. If Joe Louis were white no 1 would have given a crap, and if there were black champions before him up from Jack Johnson; people also wouldn't have given a crap.

Yup. Back then there was Ali's speed, Frazier's hooks, Foreman's power(and weird punching), Mike Tyson combination, Lewis' jab(last exciting heavyweight in my opinion), etc... Now, they all fight slow and predictable, the only crazy guy is Deontay Wilder but let's face it, Wilder's "boxing" is just an "organized" street fight... Guy can't "box" at all... I could be wrong but hey, just an opinion and I honestly believe that if heavyweights don't start building their own unique styles, heavyweight boxing is doomed...

BQ- I like the boxers who show up and fight, no clowning, just fight(a good ko is good to). I am talking about guys like Golovkin, Mathysse, Marquez, Pacquiao, Rigondeaux, etc

Heavyweight boxing is doing fine , just not in the U S. Europe is booming with competitive heavyweights and has been for a few years now. US fighters aren't as hungry as Europeans. Pay attention !!!

It is a lot more boring because not as much competition so no big fights anybody wants to see they are all predictable. Another reason, is there are not as many quality american boxers. American boxers were always more famous because of the big population interest. Thats why people from all over europe go to america to get bigger.

Well, I must agree some boxing fights are just tedious, they pretty much repeat, I mean, they're all the same.

I like boxers that do something extraordinary, like for example Mike Tyson, the one and only boxer I would purchase a ticket to watch at. I mean knockouts and such. And none of that hugging crap, if I wanted porn I would search for it elsewhere.

It does seem that the heavyweights are boring and not very exciting today.

The thrill of watching this weight class is not as good as it was.

The best heavyweights are eastern European and america doesn't like it. That's the reason.

"Changing it up a bit" is a good way to irritate the opponent into being even more determined to beat you.

That heavyweights just aren't unique now and they all seem boring and bland where as before we had fighters who were unorthodox and different from each other and actually put on show! At my boxing gym they seem to want to have everyone fight with same basic style! So could that be the reason?

B.Q.- Do you like boxers who just seem like any other boxer and just fight according to what they're told or do you like boxers who change it up a bit, maybe dance around or taunt or whatever it may be!
