Does Canelo have too many flaws to be great?

Canelo is still young but he is learning and improving. What more Canelo does not fancy himself as a fluid masterful boxer. He is maximizing what he is naturally endowed with especially his physical strength and endurance and punching power. The improvements in his skills are mere enhancement.

Mexican fighters of lesser endowment than Canelo have managed to become not just good but even great fighters as Ruben Olivares and Julio Cesar Chavez so I don't see why Canelo cannot attain at least a measure of greatness compared to them.

Styles make fights. Lara's style can make anyone look bad. He gave Canelo problems because he was moving so much. He didn't do that with Angulo and it almost cost him so he was not going to stand and fight with a heavier puncher. Canelo is an A fighter who needs slightly better conditioning.

He's still 23. Once his dismantles Kirkland and Cotto you'll think twice.

I think Canelo is improving with every fight. He will be even more dominate in the future because he is learning on the job.

Personally, I feel that Canelo gets hit way too much.

He needs a new trainer that focuses on his flaws. His trainers aren't cutting it

Lara fought too ticklish, and never once showed that he was the big brother in the fight.

I watched the fight last night and I noticed a few things. Canelo is horrible t controlling the ring. He follows opponents, rather than cut them off. He doesn't have great endurance, doesn't jab enough, doesn't throw enough at the right spots, and has moments of complete mental lapses where he doesn't respond to a boxers flurry except freeze and out on earmuffs. Boxer, counterpunches give him trouble. Then I've realized that these same issues have come up in numerous previous fights. I really like Canelo, I think he's a good fighter. But, is it time to stop thinking he's the next great Mexican? I honestly think this guy is a B+ fighter with slight upside.
