Floyd Mayweather Greatest Welterweight of all time?

Posted at: 2015-04-20
When Floyd Mayweather Defeated Canelo he was only 151 pounds Canelo was 160 pounds (middleweight).......

I think Floyd mayweather is the greatest welterweight of all time.

He beat Saul alvarez who was 165 lbs. on fight night. While he was 151.

He beat Oscar dela hoya who was 165+ on fight night. When he was making his Jr. middleweight debut.

He beat Ricky hatton { after Kostszyu }, Shane mosley { after Margorito}, Oscar dela hoya, Saul alvarez { after Austin trout } , Victor ortiz { after he beat Andre berto }.

He beat 20 world champions and 5 hall of famers. I think Manny pacquiao will enhance his legacy but it will do.

Sugar ray robinson and Floyd mayweather jr. fought in 2 different eras but it's hard to say who is better.

I did not live in Robinson era so Floyd mayweather is my pick.

I think he will retire a top 15 ATG because he accomplished enough.

I am not sure Floyd is even in the top ten, there have been a lot of great welterweights through out boxing history. Here are a few: Sugar Ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong, Micky Walker(yeah the "Toy Bulldog" won a welterweight championship), Barney Ross, jimmy McLarnin, Emile Griffith, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Pernell Whitaker, Thomas Hearns and Carmine Basilio are all in my opinion better than Floyd. You can argue that Floyd was better than Manny Pacquiao, Donald Curry, Jose Napoles, Wilfred Benitez or even Felix Trinadad, but those would be arguments, not fact. I don't think Floyd makes the top ten best welterweights of all time, and I am actually a Mayweather fan, I like Floyd both as a boxer and the kid I knew who grew up in Michigan.

well Floyd is added to the list of Great American Fighters and i feel majority of those Great Fighters of the past will themselves say Floyd is an Skillful Technician A Master of His Craft. Some people Don't know a good thing when they see it.

At Time We Never Miss A Good Thing (Floyd) Until It's Gone,Brian

I wouldn't put Floyd into the conversation unless he fights The Pacman. Duran, Ray Leonard, Hearns, those fools fought everyone. I think those guys beat Floyd anyway, bottom line.

Everyone in the IBRO top 20 list has defeated several world champions who outweighed them by at least 15lbs.

If you knew anything about boxing you would know that there were champions who fought much larger men.

Since that's your only basis on determining greatness; you should also consider who Mayweather fought.

Floyd Mayweather has never defeated an undisputed champion in any division, he can't be considered the greatest with those credentials [or lack there of].

It's Sugar Ray Robinson, man. Floyd should come in fifth after Robinson, Ray Leonard, Henry Armstrong and Tommy Hearns.

Floyd mayweather is the greatest welterweight of my lifetime.

NO!!!!!

The only Legitimate welterweight he has beaten is ******* Carlos Baldomir, that doesn't make you the greatest @ welterweight.

The rest of his wins at welterweight were either shot fighters or fighters from lower weight classes.

LOL the greatest welterweight of all time...i dont know what kind of drugs are taking but im telling its not working at all...

Sugar Ray Robinson is the greatest welter weight of all time.

All other are just pretenders to his being the greatest of all time.

sugar ray robinson is the best welterweight. I think pernell whitaker was better than mayweather.

When Floyd Mayweather Defeated Canelo he was only 151 pounds Canelo was 160 pounds (middleweight).......

Mayweather may be the greatest welterweight of all time, except for SRRobinson.

mike tyson was the greatest welterweight of all times

no way hes willingly giving up the belt to duck pacquiao

No.

Never fought any world class welterweights in their prime.

your idol just surrendered the wbc belt to pacquiao... and you wanna compliment his cowardice by giving him what belongs to sugar ray robinson...WTF?!

no just another overrated ni66er who does nothing but run

greatest cherry picker of all time

He is just an overrated mayate, Julio Cesar Chavez would have beat the mayate out of him.

no...................
