Has frank warren ruined nathan cleverly's career like he has other british fighters?

I sort of agree with most of what you're saying, but I still think warren is Britain's best promoter. hearn is just a flash in the pan! most the people that left warren regretted it, and I think its not always fair to blame him for the fighters choices. for example, joe calzaghe didn't want to fight anyone! there's a quote of him even saying that he didn't want any wars or hard fights, and he hated travelling. he didn't want to be flying around the world and he felt that he was too good for that anyway, plus he pulled out of quite a few fights with hand injuries so that cant really be blamed on warren.

with regards to cleverly, his opponents have been pretty shocking and he does need to be tested, but the problem is (imo) he isn't going to beat any of the big names. he's not much of a puncher and he has an open brawling type style that the top guys like Hopkins and dawson would expose, and Stevenson will KO him probably so its a bit of a lose/lose situation. I think the best fight out there for him would be tavoris cloud, that would let us see a bit more of cleverlys real potential.

tracey: haha thanks mate, I think I'll make the switch. I definatley killed a few brain cells the other day watching that crap!

If I'm honest cleverly is my favourite british boxer right now. Problem is ( and this is warrens fault ) he will destroy an average boxer who people haven't heard of and then call out b-hop and froch. But they won't want to fight him until he fights a true contender such as Dawson or cloud who I'm sure would both be at least a 50 - 50 fight for him. He is desperate for the best in the division but warren wants to protect his undefeated record. If he relinquishes his WBO crown ditches warren and goes down the WBA route to fight Beibut Shumenov who im sure he would beat, he will hold a much more prestigious title and it should put him right in the firing line of the big boys in the division. We haven't seen his full potential yet, but when he fights the best he will deliver his best and whe could be in for a very special fighter in Nathan Cleverly.

Clev needs to up and start fighting some serious contenders. He's had that WBO title for a while now and hasnt fought anyone of note. Bellew got the fight because of local interest, he wasnt a mandatory challenger.

I like Nathan, he seems a good lad, but he will damage his legacy staying with Warren.

Calzaghe left Warren for his 2 fights in the states against Jones and Hopkins, and promoted them himself.

That's how Warren carefully ruined their careers. IMO, Warren sort of protected Joe Calzaghe over guys like BHop, Jones when these guys were still in their prime best. Only did he allow Joe to fight them when they got washed up. Frankly speaking, that's how Frank works. To Cleverly, that aint clever.

Frankie Warren has always been a bottom feeder, a parasite, and nothing has changed. He is the reason Joe Calazaghe isn't as well regarded as his career numbers, Ricky Hatton got more credibility from his losses than Joe did for his wins. It is an ethical dilemma, the fact is Warren lacks ethics.

ok cleverly is defending his WBO 175 belt for the 6th time vs a unknown boxer in August . now cleverly is 26 he's not a young fighter any more ,not old but he is close to his peak so why do i not know anyone that he has fought other than tony bellew and other british fighters from earlier in his career.

the 175 weight class isn't over run with talent so there's no need to protect cleverly he would start as favourite against all but maybe Bhop . so why not let him fight someone i have heard of in stead of a guy from eastern europe that i have no idea of . surely it's time to let nathan fight a fighter like cloud, hopkins, dawson or stevenson but that won't happen in case frank warren loses his pay cheque.

the same thing that happened to calzaghe is happening to cleverly he will be feed the easiest fighters he can get away with fighting till he leaves warren then only then will cleverly get to fight the bigger names.
