Most Invincible Fighter?

What boxer had the greatest "aura of invincibility"?

Was it Mike Tyson? Ray Robinson? Roy Jones? Muhammad Ali? ect...

Who do you think?

For his time and in his prime that would be Jack Johnson. The same may be said of Tyson..until he got with the crooked Don King who got rid of the previous, experienced, talented and winning team around Tyson and hired inept trainers, manager, etc. and also allowed others around him who pretty much ruined his boxing career. And for his time and in his prime,Ali was the best.

That's a bit hard to say. Through out boxing history mostly heavyweights had this aura because mostly heavyweights got all the attention before the 70's. Boxers who seemed invisible include;

Mike Tyson; kayod most of his opponents, i recall even conservative HBO analyst suggesting he may be greater than Ali. Some fighters, like Tillis, gave Tyson problems in his prime but he beat all of em.

Joe Louis; he began his career knocking everyone out, Schmeling took this aura away but in the rematch Louis looked invisible and more importantly he remained with the aura throughout most of his title defenses.

Sugar Ray Robinson; some fighters gave him trouble but on the rematch he would lick em. After 120 bouts @ undisputed world titles from 147lbs-160lbs his only loss was avenged several times, he was as ''unbeatable'' as they came. Even after loosing to a fighter [like Turpin] at old age, he was still the heavy favorite during the rematch.

George Foreman' after his destruction of Frazier it looked like no one cold beat this beast. He destroyed the men who gave Ali problems and he won the undisputed heavyweight world title the same way Dempsey & Tyson did.

Muhammad Ali had an ''unbeatable'' feel but many guys gave him problems [Doug Jones, Cooper]. Floyd Mayweathers feel of invisibility is similar to that of Ali; he beat everyone [in Ali's prime] but some guys gave him trouble to the point where he had controversial wins.

Julio Cesar Chavez also had a feel of invisibility in his hayday but in the latter part of his career he had controversial wins and unlike Robinson; he didn't rematch and dominate them.

My pick would be between Mike Tyson & Sugar Ray Robinson. Tyson looked completely invisible up until the Douglas fight while Robinson did the same very early in his career [he even killed a man] but some guys would give him trouble, still on the rematch people knew Robinson would be 100% & dominate them.

In his prime, from 1986 to 1990, Mike Tyson. The guys was too dominant and at the same time scary that his opponents just laid down on the canvass.

Long before Sonny Liston got a shot at the championship held by Floyd Patterson and kept by Cus D'Amato, from facing Liston for 3 years, Liston met and beat easily all the top contenders that Patterson wouldn't fight. He was considered by the boxing press as invincible by the nature of his easy wins.

Robinson

Mike Tyson at the height of his boxing career. Mike's got power that scares most of his opponent. He seems to be unbeatable at that time.

Mike tyson in his prime...

Hannibal or Alexander the Great

The guy who didn't fight.
