Should I try out for the JV Cheerleading team with no experience?

My school is small, but still big enough for tryouts to count. So in my experience gymnastics helped, but I think I made my varsity team because of my peppy attitude during the cheer tryouts. I cheered like I meant it instead of acting like "lol this is so lame". So keep a big pretty smile and try to make your motions big and precise. As far as jumps, you'll get better, but dont feel like you need to be the best right away. Im not very strong so even though I was on varsity I never stunted but that didnt mean I wasnt a good cheerleader. Also Im small, 5'5, about 115-120 pounds, so I fit into the uniform. Your weight is fine, dont think Im calling you heavy at all, you dont need to be thinner. It would be different if you were 150 pounds and out of shape.

Ok the main issue here is the training. I understand that you are willing to try it and work at it but wait a year. You need more practice. Start stretching and go to a ballet class. Im a guy who is in gymnastics for 9 months. I originally was in it for like 4 years but my parents pulled me out for 2 years. It is really hard to get back in but I am in the varsity highschool gymnastics team. The gym where I work out for the highschool is the same one where I was 2 years before so it was easy to be accepted in. It may be harder for you but really practice ballet classes helped me get back into doing gymnastics and just for the record I want to be a cheerleader too:)

As long as your motions are sharp, your jumps are fair, and you are loud and peppy you will do good. So what if they have experience and you don't? They didn't have experience at one point! Don't wear any jewelry! I don't advise bringing a friend because usually the coach doesn't allow anyone watch the girls tryout and whenever your practicing you won't be able to talk to her or anything because it's nonstop! Be sure to try your very best and keep everything tight!! My JV cheer team didn't go to comps but we went to camp! You should really try and stretch for about 10-15 minutes every day! Try to get your jumps good too!! By jumps I mean toe touches, left and right hurkies and hurdlers, and maybe a double toe touch(JV usually doesn't require doubles) and maybe a pike. If you want to make it never stop smiling, be tight, get maybe a little flexible, work on you jumps, learn the cheers, and have a good attitude! It may sound like a lot but it really isn't! Good luck, I hope you make it!

I think you should try out ik someone that is 273 pounds and she made the team but she works out and is dropping the weight it dose not matter if you are a size 6 or a size 16 or even a 17-18 it dose not matter so be yourself smile more and have fun

I'm in eighth grade going into ninth next year. I really want to try out for Junior Varsity Cheerleading. The only problem is I have no experience with cheerleading, or gymnastics at all. I'm not flexible, and have honestly never stretched frequently in my life. I'm nervous that most girls that show up have experience, and I won't. I'm afraid of looking like a fool, and ridiculous. I also wear glasses currently, but am getting contacts for next year during summer. Is that okay? Also, I weigh 134 lb, and am 5'6. Is that like good or bad for a Cheerleader? The tryouts are April 7/11, and are from 3-8 PM. I'm thinking about bringing a friend with me so I'm not that nervous, and I'll have her by my side. What usually happens, and what do you do at try outs? What should and shouldn't I wear? Will I make it with little experience? My high school isn't that big, and I have heard has average cheerleaders, but not a lot. I wanna try out, but don't wanna look like a moron! I also want to try to make the team! What can I do within three weeks? I'm willing to try, and have a positive attitude. Does JV go to competitions? What do they usually do? What should/shouldn't I do at try outs? HELP! I need advice, and most of these questions answered!
