What are some good skating shoes?

First of all, you can use any shoes for skateboarding, but skateboarding shoes decrease the chance of injury and INCREASE the chance of you becoming a better skater! Skateboarding shoes have a wide, flat bottom sole to easily grip the skateboard. In any case...

What I recommend for you:

1. Vans or Old school Vans are the #1 skating shoe. They have a large rubber sole so the sole doesn't wear out as often due to skateboarding. But they still manage to remain light and comfortable. Most people use Vans as casual shoes due to the comfortableness, so it'll work out for any occasion!

2. Nike SB Janoskis: Nike SB are cool... but Janoskis are even cooler! They're around $70, but you'll never get tired of them. The shoelaces are made out of a sort of boat-shoe waterproof material that won't rip if it gets caught in your board. The slimness and stye of the shoe make it the hype for skaters AND non-skaters alike - but since you're a skater, you'll be cooler.

3. Element skating shoes are slim, comfortable, and pretty inexpensive if you put them next to the Lakais or Supras. Most skaters wear Element, so depending on which style of shoe you want, it can run pretty pricey.

What I don't recommend for you:

Converse; I used my pair for skating and because I ollie, the shoe that I used to slide with got all ripped. Converse are casual shoes, therefore the canvas siding is pretty thin. But I never had any problems with the shoelaces XDD.

New Balance: They make basketball and running shoes, along with other sports, but skateboarding is not included in their selection.

DC's; They're pretty bulky and since you said you wanted thin shoes, they wouldn't be a good choice for you, but some skaters like that, I guess.

Good luck with your shoe selection!

Vans Chukka Lows. Vans SPV's. Nike SB Janoski's are good (but they're overpriced) DC makes good skate shoes that last a good amount of time.

Nike sb's are the best shoes. They give u good grip and their comfortable. I wear them and I love them! So if I was u I'd get a pair of those

K*Swiss suede lowtops, really lightweight, great board traction/control

Im a beginner i used to skateboard but I was like 7 years old lol. I currently have lakais because they looked pretty cool at the time but now I need shoes that are good for skating. I like my shoes to be a little bit on the thin side with a lot of grip on the board. Thanks :)
