catcha weighta....

I like Canelo Alvarez, maybe even more than Floyd Mayweather but he does not get to dictate terms on this fight against Floyd. First off, Canelo still hasn't had a PPV fight, so while everybody expects the numbers to be great, we can't really be sure exactly how much he will pull in. I think it would be FAIR if Floyd fought at a catchweight of 150. Floyd has to come up 3 and Canelo needs to go down 4 and then can rehydrate to whatever he wishes to. That will do the best for Floyd in terms of fans and avoid the "ducking" label. However, he doesn't have to do it. There are still fights out there that people will pay alot of money to watch. (Khan...) As much as I would LOVE to see Canelo V Floyd at 154 it needs to happen at 147 since Floyd is the proven draw. Either way, if Canelo doesn't do some serious conditioning the weight wont even matter.

Catch weight.

Mayweather 150

Canelo 151

Canelo won't be able to make 147 comfortably, he too big for that and based on Mayweather's performances, he doesn't look good when fighting at 154(151 since that's the most he's weighed, I think). SD vs Dela Hoya and got hit a lot against Cotto.

I think a catch weight is the only way this fight could be fair. Both losing/gaining 3 pounds.

If they just HAD to fight for a title though, then I'd say 154. Canelo will struggle to make the weight, Floyd can just reach 151 like Cotto and relax.

Probably shouldn't happen. Never was a fan of catch weights any way. If Canelo wants a challenge, then he should aim to eventually fight Andre Ward. He's only 22 years old. Why is he so concerned about fighting a lighter 36 year old? If it's the money, then he probably has to give into Floyd's demands since like him or not, Floyd's boxing's cash cow, not Canelo. Floyd can do 1 million PPV sales against pretty much anyone, even did it with a no name like Guerrero.

Look at all the haters criticising Mayweather lol. He doesn't need to fight Canelo so if Canelo wants a shot at the undefeated world champion and get paid like he has never done before then he needs to get himself down to 147 and rightly so. That's the weight Mayweather fights at so if Canelo can't make it then he'll just have to fight someone else. Only Canelo is going to be making real gains from this fight, Mayweather won't come close to breaking his De La Hoya PPV sales with this nor will he get the credit he deserves when he beats him so why should he move up to 154?

154 or not at all. Floyd would be pulling a Pacquiao draining Canelo down. Isn't this the same guy that said "I fought Cotto at a weight where he was comfortable", well Canelo is comfortable at 154.

Canelo has a puncher's chance but I think Floyd beats him. I dont see Canelo's camp agreeing to anything under 150 lbs either. Bottom line, Canelo is the only opponent for Floyd that makes sense for September.

at this point in his career mayweather cannot rectify the damage he has already done to his legacy.if he drains canelo it will just reassure what most have already wised up to.

of course he should fight canelo @154.it's a weight that they both fight at.i don't buy all this stuff about mayweather being much more comfortable at 147.i actually thought he looked better against cotto than he did in his last fight.maybe not defensively but offensively.

mayweather really gave it to cotto.he didn't look as good offensively against gurerro.i know cotto took a few rounds and bloodied mayweathers nose but floyd was never in trouble and i put it more down to mayweather taking a few rounds off because he knew he could afford to.

you said it yourself before that you think floyd would be comfortable at 160.personally i'm not sure about that but he's great at 154 and i think he'd beat alverez either way.

once again mayweather, for all his amazing talent, shows he is scared to take real risks to prove his elite greatness at the highest level.and in this instance it's against someone that most people think floyd beats.

Floyd don't need Canelo I will say this if Floyd decides to fight Canelo and he wants to make a statement he will fight him at 154 lbs. There are a lot better fights out there for Floyd let's not for get Trout beat Canelo.

Lmbo. Last thing a Alvarez fan should be talking about is weight. This the same guy that made a 134 and 140 come up to 154 and fight. Please spare the weight talk. Floyd is in the drivers seat not the little Ginger Bread Man.

154lb otherwise Mayweather is asking for a catch-weight and an unfair advantage! khan a challenge for Mayweather ? not in a million years ! Canelo at 154lb , Martinez even after his poor showing against Murray and Pacquiao if he is not effected by the Marquez KO !

canelo holds his belt @154 so the fight has to be at 154 ,floyd fought cotto @154 so he should do the same vs alvarez if he doesn't want to be blaimed for weight draining canelo

At 154 lbs. I don't believe in catch weights. Otherwise the fight shouldn't happen.

why da fuq should floyd abide by the ginger's demands? sheeeit floyd is da cash cow. rewind back to 2007 when that cross dressing coke fiend oscar was da cash cow floyd had to bow down and accept oscar's demands and fight him at his weight class and take less money even though floyd was ranked no.1 p4p at da time. fast forward to 2013 now floyd is in da same position oscar was. if carrot top want that payday he should do what floyd did 6 years ago and meet da cash cow at his weight division.

154 is the right weight for this fight...If this fight is held at 147 then its a catchweight fight, worst than pacs catchweight because we boxing fans know that floyd can easily go up at 154 since he fought cotto and dela hoya at 154....

Floyd fans demanding catchweights

(shakes my head)

It's official, "Flotards" have become the new Pactards.

mayweather beats him....believe it or not khan has the style to test mayweather...
