Fast punches or strong punches which are more effective?

I want to know because I think that speed equals power.

They're equal in effectiveness. Fast punches will allow you to land more shots and keep you moving in and out of the other guy, but a strong puncher may not be able to throw as many or land as many but the damage will be at a greater amount.

Physically

Let's just say this

Fast puncher's punch power = 1

Strong puncher = 4

Fast puncher land 1-2-1-2

before the fast puncher gets out

Strong puncher lands 1

now the damage is equal. Fast puncher's punches have accumulated a damage of 4, but the strong puncher's lands once and has equaled it out

Mentally

A fast puncher will worry about that one shot power of a strong puncher, but a strong puncher will worry about the combinations that a fast puncher can land in rapid succession.

Boxing is so often times called the sweet science because to every pro there is a con and everything is laid out so completely perfectly.

This is a big issue nowadays with all the fight metric and everything. People look at total punches landed and they assume "Oh, he landed more, he should've won", while others look at it like "YO! He landed more but none of them did any damage, the other dude smashed him up, he should've won!!" pretty controversial when it comes to fast punches vs strong punches. Do they count how many shots they land, or do they count the damaged accrued?

for instance

Fast puncher land 8 shots and damage = 8

strong puncher lands 4 shots and damage = 16

who wins???

One was able to get his shots with precision striking while the other was able to land his shots and left the other guy with a big ol black eye. One lands twice as much punches, but the other does twice as much damage. It's not his fault his punches aren't strong, but it's not the other dude's fault that his hands are fast either. It's completely equaled out.

This was the case of Frazier and Ali. Ali had phenomenal hand speed, while Frazier had rock solid hands. Every time they fought, they fought like hell and put on some of the greatest fights in Boxing history.

Speed is better because there will always be power with speed punches. And power is good but for knocking out but in my opinion power punchers get tired easily.

Sorry, guy - or gal - speed does not equal power. Handspeed is the single most important physical attribute for a fighter. Of course, it certainly helps if one has speed AND power (like Robinson & Louis) rather than speed and Mickey Mouse power (like Pep and the '60s Ali).

strong punches because if you connect a punch you might knock the guy out.

fast punches for any weight apart from heavyweight, heavyweights are able to have stronger punches and still be effective

strong punches yoh knock 'em out the first time
