Prince Naseem Hamed vs Johnny Tapia..prime vs prime @126..who wins?

Hamed wins easy....similar to but easier than Hamed v Paul Ingle because of primes....the late Tapia had a weak body frame and relied heavily on workrate like ingle. Hamed laughed through opponents and never missed a power punch during his prime...hamed would win in 6...maybe quicker....Hamed actually called him out numerous times without success even late in his career.....as for barrera everyone knows hamed wasn't at his best and Barrera fought a very very very very careful fight whilst hamed fought with his hands down...barrera was afraid to step in unlike Kelley and did the minimum to win...hamed's work rate was low partly because of barreras hesitation to move in....hamed wasn't all there even before the fight (e.g. No jump over the ropes) and would have beaten Barrera in a rematch if his heart was still in boxing.

Tapia the much more controlled fighter does pretty much the same thing to Hamed that Barrera did except in a much more brutal fashion. Marco pretty much took Hamed to school showing how a real boxer can out box the simplest of fool's. Marco's pure distain for Hamed showed that he wanted to expose Hamed for what he was, a joke.

A prime Tapia who fought in angles and had terrific head movement would hunt down a systematically break a very awkward Hamed down in a very easy fashion. Johnny was too complete of a fighter to fall for any of Hameds ring antics.

The key to answering your question is to pick out the most important thing about your question and that is the word PRIME, Hamed never had a "Prime" because he was fed fish while in England and fighters way past their Primes when he came to the US (Kevin Kelly) but as soon as he fought a fighter who was towards the end of his Prime (Barrera) well, we seen what happened there. Now Tapia fought every fighter that was thrown at him as he was coming up, they were coming up. He lost some but always fought the good fight and learned and adjusted after each and every one of his fights.

Hamed QUIT after he lost and was exposed. Nuff said.

This is a flawed question because Tapia's prime was at 115. I'd expect Hamed to stop an over the hill Tapia at 126, but pound for pound, Tapia was better.

Boxers like Tapia are made for the price. Hamed is too slick and powerful for the much smaller Tapia.

Hamed was a bum that fought nobodies. The first ranked fighter he fought, retired him.

Id put anyone ranked above four to beat Hamed.
