Boxing: Kell Brook...2 fight assessment...what are your thoughts?

Main strengths: stiff jab, poised, physical strength.

Weakness: inside fighting

All the strengths you listed are accurate and would suit him will among all the top welterweights except Floyd Mayweather. Brook's jab, foot work, chin and conditioning would give him a great chance against any other welterweight.

.

If he were taller, he'd trouble Mayweather. Brook is tall, 5'9" by today's standard welterweight. With other top guys like Pacquiao and Bradley standing in the 5'6" range, Brook has the tools to trouble most of the other top 147 lb. fighters.

.

Brook's greatest weakness, so far, is his porous defense, which Mayweather would exploit from bell one. I don't see that improving by much. It might help him against the others but Mayweather would pot-shot him all night long.

Kell is a very naturally talented boxer. He has great footwork, good lateral movement and a very good jab. I don't think you can get a good view of Kell from his fight against Porter as it wasn't a very good clash of styles. Brook took more risks, with regards to his defence, in that fight because Porter was doing the same thing every time he came in, which meant Brook had to be right in front of him to pick him off then tie him up.

Brook is a typical Ingle gym boxer, maybe even the best example of a Brendan Ingle trained fighter their is, with the exception of Herol Graham. They are typically very awkward and hard to him, with very good movement. They are also not afraid to take a shot to land a shot.

Not every boxer looks good in every fight. For me a more accurate picture of Brook can be seen from his fights with Matthew Hatton, who he beat more impressively than Alvarez did, and his rematch with Carson Jones. This is more like the Kell Brook who was WBO number 1 contender, and won Young Boxer of the Year under Frank Warren.

I always knew what Kell Brook was made of and knew it would be just the matter of time before he hits the main stream of America.

He's like Floyd Mayweather in a lot of ways ,good footwork ,good counter puncher ,good right hook behind his left jab ,reminded me of Lennox Lewis a little.

Looks great. Has tons of potential. Only success Porter had was early rounds to the body, and clinched rabbit punches. So his only weakness is in close defense. He is ready for anyone though, and will have tons of big fight options.

I love how fast you will worship any black or mixed boxer regardless his nationality, even though Brook is only a quarter black, but you are still not sold on the likes of Kovalev, GGG and Lomachenko just because they are white. People like you is the reason white Americans don't follow boxing in America anymore or if they do they will root for white boxers from around the world. People like you make white cops mad and that's why they go crazy shooting blacks in the street for fun.

C+ fighter IMO, has potential, but not there yet.

A) He has a great jab. Fast, powerful and straight. To the head and body.

B) He has really good footwork and put himself in great defensive and countering position.

C) He has a good chin.

D) He is in great shape.

Z) He has serious holes in his defense...very heritable... be thankful for C

Based on his Porter and Robles fight.

What do you think are his strengths and weaknesses?
