Taking pictures with the dead was common practice in the U.S. for a long time, particularly in the south. Matter of fact often dead relatives were kept in the living room or bedroom until they got put in the ground. Anybody who's family stretches back more than 3 generations in America probably has a family photo floating around somewhere with their great great great grandparents propped up in a casket with everyone around them. Heck this was still common place in rural America through the 60's.
Thats disgusting. His son looks scarred for life in that picture. Poor thing. Dying wish or not thats beyond morbid and nasty
