I have to bring turkey to a potluck! Help! I need ideas!?

You should be able to find fresh (unfrozen) turkey breast in the meat/poultry department of your grocery store. Select 1 or 2 large breasts (total of 20 pounds should do it), and roast them tonight. They won't take nearly as long as an entire turkey would take. Here's a really good, foolproof recipe:

Moist and Tender Turkey Breast

Don't be put off by the mayonnaise (Hellman's/Best preferred) called for. Though the taste will be undetectable, it is the secret ingredient that works wonders in keeping the breast moist and tender.

Once the turkey breast is fully cooked, let it rest for half an hour or so before cutting it into generous slices. Don't discard the drippings! Wrap the slices in foil and refrigerate overnight. Warm them up in the crock pot tomorrow. The recipe makes its own gravy base, so if gravy is called for, you can make that tonight, too. Otherwise, just warm the slices up tomorrow in the reserved drippings, adding additional chicken broth as needed. Good luck.

ETA:

Of course, by doing it this way, there won't be any dark meat, unless you want to buy a couple of turkey drumsticks and cook those tonight, too. You should be able to find a recipe for them online. However, the turkey breasts should be more than adequate for your potluck.

If it were me, I would buy two or 2-1/2 pounds of butterball turkey (sliced) at the deli counter and present it on a dollar store tray. Don't worry about impressing people, they're just glad its a free meal and you know how it is...the people who make the most money never bring anything yet they're first in line (hate that)!

There is no way you can cook a frozen turkey by tomorrow. Tell them you don't have time. Get the chickens. But I wonder why they made you bring THE most expensive item. Price of turkeys v. a pile of mashed potato, I know which I would bring.

With the other dishes that go along with Thanksgiving turkey a 20 pounder should be pleanty for 11. You either get a fresh turkey or be up all night defrosting a frozen one in the kitchen sink. Chicken in a crock pot doesn't sound very much like Thanksgiving. I'm guessing you waited until the last minute to do this.

So I've been asked to bring the turkey for a thanksgiving themed potluck.

It is for tomorrow, and I will only be able to pick up the turkey tonight after I get off work - since it is most likely going to be frozen, does anyone have any idea how I can pull this off?

crock pot? If so which sized turkey can I buy for 11 people?

Thanks for any help or ideas.

I was thinking of just caving in and doing 3 rotisserie chickens and then putting that into the crock pot and warming it up at work the next day.
