Mike Tyson (1987 Prime) vs. Evander Holyfield (1990 Prime): Who would win a boxing fight (match)?

I'm talking about Mike Tyson in his prime back in 1987 takes on Evander Holyfield in his prime back in 1990. I am not talking about Tyson vs. Holyfield 1996 nor 1997.

The result would be the same : Evander Holyfield would win again.

To be honest, in their 1996 and 1997 fights, Holyfield had past his prime more than Tyson did. As you can see, Holyfield had just retired from boxing and when they fought in 1996, Holyfield was just coming out of two years retirement. Some might say Tyson had past his best, but so was Holyfield.

Want to know how Holyfield manage to beat Tyson? That's by cheating, by intentionally headbutting Tyson to cut him bad and make him frustrated and lose focus and eventually losing the match.

If they fought during their prime, Holyfield is a classic dirty boxer. He would stun Tyson with his amazing heart and ability as a boxer. Holyfield would take all Tyson's hard punches and counters him effectively. And Holyfield, like always, would sneak some headbutts and low blows. Holyfield would eventually make Tyson feel frustrated.

But, the 1987 Tyson won't bit his ear. Instead, he would just retaliate with elbows and low blows, making this a very dirty fight. In the end, Tyson would go out of gas and Holyfield would take him to 12 Rounds and win via UD.

So, Holyfield UD RD 12 117-111.

I think Mike Tyson is the best heavyweight fighter in history. I'm talking in the years between 1985-88 when he was with Kevin Rooney. He didn't look like the same fighter after 1988. I think he was mentally in a bad place when he fought Holyfield. Holyfield was fighting a great fight but Tyson started winning in the 5th round and in the beginning of the 6th round. I noticed after Holyfield head butted Tyson in the 6th round he looked lethargic and wasn't the same after that. I believe if mike would have stayed with Rooney and was in a good place mentally he would have went undefeated. I think fighters like Tyson only have so many years before they lose their skills because they depend on spilt second timing. All that being said I think Holyfield is still in the top 5 all time great heavyweight fighters.

I am gonna go with Tyson on this one. Tyson at this time was a force to be reckoned with. By 1990 he was on the downslide. However the Tyson who beat Berbick 1986, P Thomas 1987 I believe would have destroyed Holyfield of 1990. Tyson was a man on a mission and was unstoppable. He was a very underrated boxer with good defense, head movement and power in both hands. I seen Holyfield at Atlantic City in one of his first heavyweight fights Dec 1988 he beat Pinklon Thomas and I did not think he was ready for Tyson at that point. The 1987 Tyson dispatches the 1990 Holyfield fairly easy.

Same results as 96-97, that is, Evander wins. Why? Styles make fights. Holyfield had the right style and the right attitude to beat Iron Mike. Fighting prime Tyson, you gotta be courageous and stand up to him. You gotta beat him to the punch, or, if he hits you, you hit him back. Holy also had the size and the strength to push Mike around, and the handspeed and decent power to trade punches with him.

I would favor Holyfield.

He was durable and skilled enough to weather Tyson's early ferocity and could take Tyson into deep waters. Holyfield should win either a decision or a late stoppage because Tyson wouldn't have it in him physically or mentally to out fight Holyfield down the stretch.

Tyson was most over rated fighter next to Cassius Clay there ever was! And when he finally fought someone it showed you the results..Dempsey, Max Baer, Primo Carnera, Patterson, Walcott. Marchiano,Ezzard Charles, Joe Louis,, Holmes all would've beaten Mike Tyson handely

lol I asked this same question a few days ago most people said tyson I think holyfield would still have Tyson's number tho

People overrate the hell out of Mike Tyson..he was never a skilled boxer..just a brawler with a heavy uppercut..in Tyson's biggest bout he failed to deliver..against Holyfield..against Lennox Lewis..he failed..to a lesser extent..this is why Kimbo Slice did not make it in MMA..he was a skilled fighter..he was a brawler who got in the ring with a skilled MMA fighter and got wrecked!

mike tyson under supervision of his adoptive dad cus de'amato will demolish holyfield...

what you're suggesting is a fight between a smarter tyson vs. a smaller holyfield

evander beat mike when mike was ultra washed up,if the fight had taken place in 88 tyson would had kod him inside 5 rounds

I'm talking about Mike Tyson in his prime back in 1987 takes on Evander Holyfield in his prime back in 1990. I am not talking about Tyson vs. Holyfield 1996 nor 1997.

holyfield always has tyson's number.
