Why is my flexibility improving at such a slow rate?

Before you stretch do about 10 jumping jacks, and hold your stretches longer every time you stretch push yourself to new stretches

Your body will go at the rate it needs to. Twice a day do stretches and try to mix up what you are doing, instead of doing the same routine everyday :)

Keep stretch for about 20-40 minutes. Really work on your hamstrings they help A LOT!

some people are naturally more flexible than others, like my friend who only stretched for like a week and got her needle. also males are less flexible than females. just persevere!

I'm a 16 year old male and I would really like to become much more flexible. I'm 5'9 (185 cm) and 75 kg (165 lbs). I have a good body structure and a proper physique but I do not dance or play any sports. My stamina is also at an extremely low level. I've been stretching for over a year and although I have been improving my flexibility, it has been an EXTREMELY slow process. Like, after a year of stretching almost daily I've only just gotten my front splits completely. Any suggestions how to speed up the process? Or any changes in diet, exercise, warm up?
