I'll never say never, but right now is when this fight was HOT, one of the best in the sport to be made.
Now however, we all got f*cked over, due to Adonis avoiding Kovalev and HBO sh*tting the bed and being negligent during the process of trying to deliver the matchup.
If they had fought? I have no idea who would've won, that's why I loved it so much.
Kovalev is better at coming forward and can punch w/ BOTH hands, unlike Adonis who is very left hand heavy.
Adonis has better defense, Kovalev lacks a bit in that department and has therefore shown a better chin.
Both are vicious to the body, but Adonis is more consistent in that category whereas Kovalev is more of a headhunter.
Great matchup, I slightly favor Adonis b/c I think he's a more versatile/well rounded fighter. I flip flop on the fight all the time though, just another reason why it's so good.
Right now it doesn't seem its likely to happen unless Kovalevs contract with HBO ends soon. But if its a boxing match I'd favor Stevenson because he's got the better technical skills and has better defense. But if its a brawl or Kovalev forces Adonis in a slugfest then Kovalev wins by KO possibly or stoppage.
Kovalev is pretty much Matthyse all over again. One dimensional slow power puncher. Stevenson is a well rounded fighter that has both ring iq and power.
Stick and Move is funny. He can't decide who would win between a guy who calls out the other guy constantly, but the other guy obviously ducks him by running scared. KOvalev would win by KO inside 4 rounds, no problem.
I doubt they fight, if they did Kovalev would knock him out.
