Boxing: Did Juan Manuel Marquez really deserve the Ring Fighter Of the Year?

I thought Donaire won it (4-0, 3KOs). I would have voted for Danny Garcia (3-0, 2KOs). Marquez went 2-0 with the 1st being a nobody, you know about the 2nd fight. Thoughts?

nobody cares about that biased magazine nowadays...so yea i think jmm really deserves it

I thought Andre Ward should have won it based on the quality of fighters he beat but I would not have had a problem with Donaire winning. There is no way Juan Marquez should have won it. Guys as true fans of our sport it is really frustrating to set back and watch these clowns turn what we love into a travesty.Just because one average fighter has a whole country behind him mexico knocks out another average fighter who has a whole country the Philippines does not make him fighter of the year.

No he never.the Pacquiao upset was a massive achievement but 1 win shouldn't make him fighter of the year.I would of given it to Donaire and i agree a great argument could of been made for Garcia.Previous winners of fighter of the year were guys who had won several fights against a high level of competition throughout the year.

He should of gotten Upset of the Year(if there is one),Fight of the Year,KO of the Year but not Fighter of the Year.

If Marquez has knocked out Malignaggi instead of Paquaio, would anybody even care...?

The 'Ring brand' is fast turning into a media whore, they associate their name with the latest trending stories... Genuine boxing fans know that Marquez wasn't / isn't the fighter of the year 2012... He took the fight with Pac to top his pension before sailing off into the sunset...

I am not going to speculate who should have won it, let's just say, there are plenty more ligitimate candidated to choose from..

The 'Ring' has made several dubious statments recently... And their P4P ratings, are tongue in cheek to say the very least....

The 'Ring' should stick to boxing, and stop being an ambulance chaser!

I am Joshua Mbngo Dmbungo TONGUE-CLICK Jnr. Jnr.

I agree to an extent. Donaire certainly would've been my choice.

However I see it as being similar to a life time achievement award. The Pacquiao result was amazing, but on it's own isn't THAT much. I think it was acknowledging his role in the rivalry with Pacquiao, and giving him props for what he's done over the last twenty years in general. Although I don't agree in principle, I'm glad he got it.

TONGUE-CLICK!

The Ring is ruined by Oscar. It has turned to Golden Boy crap. If there is any way to make Top Rank to look bad, he'll do it. What better way then to give FOTY to a someone that KOd TR's #1.

Nonito totally deserved it. Everyone else knows it.

JMM's sensational KO win over Pac was big, but Donaire deserves it more because he's the most active among the elites..

I thought Donaire won it (4-0, 3KOs). I would have voted for Danny Garcia (3-0, 2KOs). Marquez went 2-0 with the 1st being a nobody, you know about the 2nd fight. Thoughts?
