Depending on the situation and in Manny's case, free agency is not an option. Manny was a Congressman/politician, boxer, entertainer/singer and a show host and now even a damn coach/player on a PBA team. I myself can not figure out how he can divide the whole twenty four hours on all these and still have something left for his family. Free agency is additional burden to him even with those people he trusted to do things for him.
Fight can be made even with Bob Arum. To used TR or Bob as the reason why fights were not made was absurd. GBP and TR were now in good terms which is good for boxing and only the personal interest of some for whatever reasons, were the culprit why there were fights that were too problematic to make. Shaeffer doesn't like working with Arum and doesn't seems like want to give way for the sake of boxing. Floyd likewise was in the same position with Shaeffer. Where is GBP and TR to blame if ever. It's none in any ways except for the individual interest of of these people if there is any. They should stop being childish for the sake of the fans and quit playing games.
Manny Pacquiao does more of his thinking inside the ring. Outside it.he relies heavily on Bob Arum and Freddie Roach and a glorified hanger-on masquarading as "adviser" Michael Koncz for what's "good" for his career. He listens to no Filipino in his camp not even to his mother and wife.There' may be plenty of Pinoys in his boxing think tank but all they could offer is counsel which Pacquiao may or may not heed.
Saying that the Top Rank-GBP rift does not exist and should not affect his career is like saying that climate change is not true and that the worsening calamities we are having are just normal.
Arum was saying that there are plenty of other fighters for Manny to fight but he pursuing a fifth fight (!) with Marquez and a possible rematch with Cotto in the event Cotto beats Sergio Martinez and not closing the door for a third fight with Bradley.. He mentions the name of Ruslan Provodnikov in passing and some other Top Rank fighters who he said are still making a name for themselves ( who they?).
The french have a saying about what's happening with Manny re-signing with Top Rank: The more it changes the more it remains the same.

The only opponent Top Rank could offer Manny exclusively is Bradley and maybe top 140 guys like Provodnikov.
Golden Boy has Porter, Thurman, Guerrero, Khan, and Malinaggi. Golden Boy also offers Danny Garcia, who plans to move to 147 and Broner.
Doesn't free agency make more sense...unless we wanna see more rematches?
