How does a boxer cut off the ring without walking into punches?

I sparred with a guy and tried to get him in a corner but his lightning fast jab keeps me away not sure what to do.

Moving your head is essential especially when putting pressure on any opponent because you are moving into their punches. Get inside the jab by slipping the straight punches like the jab and their cross this puts you in a position to counter them. A boxer cuts off the ring with out walking into punches by keeping their chin tucked and down and moving their head.

If you're fighting flat footed and you're walking in on a faster fighter ,you have to be in good enough shape to absorb a few shots. The best way to adoid shots as you cut of the ring is to keep both of your guards up in front of your face ,bend down about 45 degrees so your elbows will cover your body and keep your head moving in the process.

If you feel you have better stamina than your opponent while you're cutting off the ring ,just let him punch away at you while you're standing infron of him in hopes he gets tired in the process ,when he gets tired ,he's in trouble.

The fundamental or basic way is the one used by Provodnikov and Tyson.

But today the best 2 fighters at closing the distance are

1-Gennady Golovkin: he closes it with his jab while coming forward, hes patient and calculated but knows how to make his opponent back to where he wants them to be.

2-Roman "Choclatito" Gonzalez: he is the best at slipping punches while coming forward. He feints so his opponents dont know when hes coming or not, also he uses great head movement while coming forward and has great combos

If you're getting hit, you're doin something wrong. Keep your hands up and move your fckin head as his jab's comin, ready yourself for what he's throwin at you. You're not exactly walking into punches, you're walkin past them, at least you should be.

Stay in front of him and back his *** up, and stay defensively sound at that. Once you got him where you want him, let your hands go.

You must block or dodge his jab, you can move inside when he throws it.

If you always hit his fist with your face it is going to be a long, painful night.

Do not move straight forward you must move from side to side, and move his arms when he punches.

It's called swarming or being a swarmer. You use head movement.
