There's a pretty good chance that Alvarez may lose, Trout is a hell of fighter and that's what makes this a very significant fight, The Best fighting The Best as boxing should be. If this was always the case the sport I love would be in much better shape than it currently is. Just imagine if you will if Floyd fought Manny lets say five years ago, that would have been great. Wouldn't you agree?
The fact that both Trout and Alvarez are stepping up shows that there is no loser here. If Alvarez does lose, then he goes back to the gym maybe takes a tune up fight, then fights Trout again after making adjustments and he wins and he adds a lot of cash to his bank account. If Trout loses same thing, he goes back and makes the proper adjustments and we anticipate a rematch.
I must admit one thing here and that is, I think A loss for Trout would be a little more of setback for him as oppose to Alvarez. There's really not that much money behind Trout right now. He is a feared fighter and this may cause him more harm than good.
In the long run Cool William, there will be no losers, both Trout and Alvarez are winners for fighting each other and WE the fans are winners for being able to watch two in their prime fighters fight the fight to determine who's the best.
El Guapo has some VERY good points, I only disagree with one though. The repercussions for Canelo will be staggering.
First I dont think this IS a good fight for Canelo. Hes not being groomed properly and being thrown in above his head a bit too early. He shouldnt be going from headline fight to headline fight, thats a recipe for disaster. He has taken Austin Trout without a warm up match against someone "Trout like" to give him an idea of what he has to work on. This makes Trout more enigmatic and problematic for Canelo. BAD BAD corner.
Why a loss would be so bad is because his fan base is fickle. When women are cheering you and wanting to buy a pair of your boxer briefs, its because of the appearance of being invincible. Once that first L is rendered, he literally loses half his fan base.
Believe me, Ricky Hatton can tell you ALL ABOUT this. Do his fans love him? Absolutely. Pay for a ticket to see him? Completely different conversation.
Canelo is going to lose you never give a good black fighter a chance he will always win something the K brothers learned from Manny Stewart.
To blame? canelo...No one to blame other than the boxer itself...
