Is it better to be Unorthodox or Orthodox?

Ramin,

It depends on what you are comfortable with. For instance Oscar De La Hoya is a lefty bout fights righty, that's the reason for the big left-hook. Southpaws, in my opinion get hit with straight shots a little bit too much for my taste, then again a lot of southpaws can keep you guessing. It's all a matter of preference. Whatever works you my friend.

I'd say unorthodox fighters. Right now I'm an orthodox fighter because I don't really have as much experience but some advanced boxers at my gym are really good and I practice some techniques they use. Hopefully one day I'll make my own style, but overall unorthodox fighters almost always end up world champions. As long as you don't pick up bad habbts you'll be good!

I'm confused... ali and tyson were unorthodox? Both of them were right handed fighters or orthodox fighters, but I see you're talking about something completely different

You don't get to invent the meanings of those two words. Tyson and Ali were not unorthodox fighters.

If you have the talent then unorthodox however if you feel like you dont have the talent then orthodox is better...Or else if you will go unorthodox you will get KO anyway...

Unorthodox as in unpredictable style, wild offense, or anything out of the ordinary really, etc.

Alot of great fighters are unorthdox, such as Ali, Tyson (Yes, he was considered unorthodox back then), Leonard, Duran, Hagler, etc.

But on the other hand there is Orthodox, or what I call, Textbook fighters. They basically just fight based off the textbook and don't have much creativity in their style.

Such examples include Rigondeaux, Austin Trout, etc.

Which is better?
