Any tips for throwing a good punch? Where to hit them in the face? And generally how to throw a punch?!

It takes practice until you feel when it is right for you. But the technique is as follows >

The first to remember is - the power of your punch comes from YOUR FEET not your arm.

The second thing is - a relaxed arm is more powerful than a tense arm. That does not mean a limp arm, just do not tense up keep the arm in control as you throw the fist into the target.

Your lead arm/hand should be your weakest hence the normal stance (orthodox) is left hand in front, left foot forward, right hand close to your chin.

Your back up is your right hand because that should be the most powerful So if you work on your weak punch i/e heavy bag this will become a powerful jab and you also know you have an even more powerful follow up right hand punch, this gives you confidence.

The main thing is to jab with your weaker punch til you find an opening then you must anchor your left foot a you throw the powerful right pushing off your right foot - heel lifts off floor. Then wack that punch on target. the chin is the most vital place to hit. Immediately you have hit with your right you must jab and jab til you get your defence up.

As much as possible, throw it short and crisp. Punches that travel no more than 6 inches do the most damage. Also, twist your body with the punch, all the way down from the soles of your feet, and put your weight into the punch.

Is it your first fight? Do you train or practice at all? If so you're in a tough predicament, first off your dominant hand will always be your hardest hit and during the fight( if its your first) you will tend to be only swinging with that one hand. When jabbing someone make sure to rotate your hand leftward so your thumb is facing the ground. While doing so keep your jaw/chin tucked into the shoulder of the hand in which you just swung with in case of a counter punch. When swinging with your non-dominant hand remember to rotate your body and come from your body up for more of a impact. So you should rotate starting from your backward foot and that knee should result turned between your legs. Most important tip: When fighting always focus: I've been a victim too losing a fight due to lack of focus but i the skill set and practice to win. I was told to focus by thinking of something in your head like" I wont lose"etc. And lastly keep both hands right under your eyes by your cheek and elbows tucked in by your ribs to prevent body shots. Good Luck!

Do quick jabs while protecting yourself and when he drops his guard just swing your arm as hard as you can and make sure your hand hits him on the temple... :)

relax as much as possible and only tense on impact.
