How to have a teen Disney Princess themed birthday party?

For a sophisticated Disney princess party, I recommend a royal tea party theme. A tea party works in any space and can have any size crowd, preferably a smaller one.

For a tea party, you could very well host in your own home, at your own dining room table, in your living room or sun room, or backyard (backyard tea parties are best if you have a patio or deck).

I suggest inviting only as many friends as will comfortably fit at the table(s).

Now as for the food and decor, you could definitely incorporate the Disney princesses.

Food: Tea parties always have a selection of small hors d'oeuvres as opposed to one entrée. Some savory and some sweet is best, of course. I've come up with a dish that represents each Disney princess. I stuck to small finger foods (the exception is Rapunzel; the soup).

Snow White: Apple fritter or apple strudel (Needs no explanation, haha)

Cinderella: Pumpkin roll (With cream cheese frosting, of course)

Aurora: Blueberry mini muffins (Aurora was sent to pick berries)

Ariel: Cocktail shrimp (As chic and simple as seafood gets)

Belle: Croissants and jam (You could also do very small sandwiches on French bread)

Jasmine: Pita and hummus-- the pita can be just pita bread, or it can be pita chips (very Middle-Eastern)

Pocahontas: Cornbread (Simple early-American fare. You can probably find something a little more inventive, but cornbread is a safe choice)

Mulan: Chinese dumplings (You could order them from a Chinese takeout restaurant the day of the party)

Tiana: Beignets (New Orleans delicacy)

Rapunzel: Hazelnut soup (You could serve it before you put out the rest of the snacks, or you could just leave it in the pot next to the rest of the food. You would need a recipe for this soup, as there really isn't such thing as "Hazelnut soup". People have invented their own Tangled-inspired recipes for this-- one person made a hazelnut and butternut squash soup; another made a hazelnut and parsnip one. You can research a Tangled-inspired hazelnut soup recipe and use it to make your own.)

Merida: Empire Biscuits (they're the desserts that Merida and the triplets are seen eating throughout the film. Or you could do blue meringues that look like Wisps. You can find specific recipes for both of these dishes online).

I found dishes for the 11 official Disney princesses. If you really, really would like to include Giselle, you could make one of the foods they are seen eating in the film, or come up with something that you think fits Giselle's character and/or story.

For your birthday cake, you can do whatever you want, but cupcakes are always cute for tea parties.

Drinks:

Of course, you can't have a tea party without tea. You can purchase different teas at your regular grocery store... I recommend having at least two different teas. But... if you don't like tea, or if your guests really dislike tea, you can opt to have lemonade instead. Put water in the teapot, the lemon juice in the creamer, and the sugar in the sugar bowl, as usual. Or you could even have coffee, putting the coffee in the teapot. If you have coffee, you should have water available as an alternative beverage.

Decor:

For the table, use a nice tablecloth, perhaps just a white one with some lace or crocheted trim. To serve the food, you can use any number of plates. Personally, I would go to the dollar store and buy some plastic silver platters and some paper doilies, to put on the platters under the food. You can make cards with the names of the foods to place in front of the dishes-- label the dishes things like "Poison Apple Strudel" or "Midnight Pumpkin Roll". It maintains the Disney flair while still keeping it sophisticated. Place a vase of roses on the table (for Belle). You can decorate the room with Chinese lanterns (Mulan), Tangled lanterns (Rapunzel; you can find YouTube tutorials on how to make your own), seashells and starfish (Ariel), etc.

These are just some things I thought would be helpful. Wish you the best. Happy sweet 16!

Well i would say get dressed up like princesses (all fancy and stuff) and go out to dinner or something then have your sleepover movie night watching movies like Enchanted (princess in reality , ect.). As far as deco, you could make everything your one fav color and like a sparkly diamond type of look with all glass dishes for platters and fancy plates, ect.

Hi, I'm 15 turning 16, and I know it's kind of odd, but I have never ever had a birthday party theme, and it's something I have always wanted! I'm pretty obsessed with all Disney princesses including Giselle, and especially belle. I don't want their faces all over the place or anything like that, but just a kinda subtle theme if you know what I mean. I still want it to be as grown-upy as a Disney theme could possibly be :p I was thinking of even adding a Jane austen theme to it, but that's just a maybe. I already know I'm going to have a sleepover/Disney movie night right after. any ideas please, and maybe a website where I can find ideas for this type of party? Thanks!
