Boxing evolved so much from the days when Johnson fought. No longer do Heavyweights stand in front of each other and bang it out. Johnsons stand up style would be his downfall. The Tyson of 88' had almost perfect head movement before and after he punched, this way he was always on balance for the counter.
Johnson just stood too straight with his proud chin up in the air exposed for a Tyson hook. Jack was strong though and knocking him out would not be an easy task for Tyson. The one thing that would help Jack tremendously would be his lack of fear of Tyson. The Tyson of 88' over al ring generalship and boxing ability would be the biggest difference in this fight, Tyson wins a unanimous decision.
Like El Guapo says, there are so many differences in boxing between Johnson's era and Tysons that it's almost impossible to imagine a fight between the two. I wonder why you took Tyson from 98' and not from 88', because Tyson was way out of his prime and shape in 98'. I believe that's just a misspelling. Johnson however is slower than a prime Tyson. He however didn't have problem with hard hitters. Johnson could beat James J. Jeffries, Bob Fitzsimmons and Sam Langford, who all were very hard hitters. Langford and Fitzsimmons were also superior punchers than Tyson(more accuracy and grace). The question is: Can Tyson break through Johnsons defense? Johnson had the greatest defense skills ever. Langford is one of the greatest punchers ever(No. 2 on Ring Magazines list of the 100 greatest punchers) and Johnson could still defend his attacks. But Langford was slower than Tyson. Speed is a big problem in this fight. I think that Johnson would hold Tyson constantly until he runs out of gas and would absorb his punches with his defense skills(That was a normal tactic back in Johnsons days. After he was seperated from his opponent by the ring referee he would grab his oppenent a second time as fast as possible, until he runs out of gas). Then in the later rounds he would go for the KO, when Tyson runs out of gas.

Jack Johnson is a true legend, but Tyson is stronger and faster and just plain brutal.
