The general prescription has been for Broner to go down to the junior welterweights after he lost his welterweight belt to Maidana.
This will prove if Broner is indeed not ready yet for the welterweight and may be better off at junior welterweights where his size and power could be a match or more than a match for most of the top fighters there. Zab Judah had went that way and it resuscitated his career. It can also work for Adrien. I think AB can match up well with Matthysse, Danny Garcia, Amir Khan and Ruslan Provodnikov at that weight class.

Khan has recently expressed his eagerness to face Broner. I'm sure if Broner's team is presented with the options of Khan or Matthysse, they'll definitely go with Khan as it's a more winnable fight and it will bring more money. IMO, Matthysse stops both.
No way in hell would Golden Boy let Matthysse loose on Broner. This fight won't happen in June and won't happen EVER! Sorry to be a buzz kill, but Broner is one of the bigger hype jobs in boxing history with 3 robbery wins on his record, blatant ones against Paulie, Quintero and Ponce De Leon, and that's with massive size advantage over his opponents at all times.
Matthysse would definitely knock him out harshly.
I would love to be proven wrong but I don't think this will happen.

After getting his azz whupped against Maidana, Broner needs some fkng easier fights to get back on trail. Matthyse is dangerous by a mile compared to Chino.
Another bad matchup for Brones, Matthysse has a great chin and a good jab when he uses it. I've always said Brones has great upper body defense, but his feet are slow, he don't move he leans back and allows guy to step in and punish him. He don't counter and punch with guys he waits and goes. Can't do that against power punchers especially this guy. I'd say Matthysse gets him out of there early like 5th round and Broner's career would be in shambles. Best thing for him to fight a fast non knockout threat guy like Devon Alexander.

Broner has no power at any weight above 135. He was successful fighting smaller men. I think Matthysse finishes him.

Nothing has been announced but I have a feeling this is possible because i remember when Broner exercised the rematch clause for Maidana the dates were April 19 and 26th. Now i have seen that Matthysse is planning to return on those exact dates. Since Maidana is fighting Mayweather and Broner's trainer said he would move down to 140 after a Maidana rematch which he now can't do, is this fight on the cards?
