Bernard Hopkins or James Toney? whose more skilled in their primes?
Skills belong to Toney. Greatness and legacy to BHop. if they fight at 160 id give a nod in a close fight to James without the lightsout. Its just that i see Bernard struggling with the more slick fighter in Toney. That i think was Bhop's waterloo as was the case vs RJJ
Very interesting question, I always thought Bernard avoided Toney, at 160 lbs I would give James Toney the edge.
Hopkins would dirty the fight up and frustrate Toney. I tend to think that Toney was overrated and got a few gift decisions in his prime, so I'd go for Hopkins if they met at 160.
Toney has the slight edge in speed and power(Though not greatly ahead) but overall skills/fundamentals goes to Bernard Hopkins. Toney is certainly a skillful boxer and utilizes his philly shell style defense well but B-Hop is the one who you'd learn more from in terms of boxing fundamentals.
Hopkins had better technique, whereas Toney was more talented.
I think Prime vs Prime, Hopkins may just win a razor thin UD, although it could go either way.
James Tony, . that would be a very defensive fight since both have mastered the shoulder roll
well they both still fight but only ones still champ and its b hop.
PA all day WHAT
toney.
Both are great at fighting on the inside and at long range and both are equally fast and both know how to throw every punch in the book with perfect technique and both had great chins
-B Hop was more disciplined and could adjust to any style in front of him and had better footwork (in fact the most underrated footwork in boxing)
-James Toney had more power and looked more spectacular or flashier in his biggest fights
Who would win at 160?
