Yeah credit to him indeed I thought that was very decent of him. No one wants to or should want to take somebody's world title in that fashion.
I like Luis Pabon a lot, he's officiated at some big events and he is very competent. But, although he took the challenger to the doctor 3 times in 3 rounds to check on the cut, I felt he was going to stop it and he should have just stopped it when he saw it was bad not wait for the end of the 4th after the champ had since been knocked down. It's not on, the cut was giving Pabon grave concern well before the end of the 4th and there should have been no regard to what round it was, if it's bad enough to keep breaking up the action then wave it off. I guess he will say that he put it in the doctors hands and he said continue but unless I am mistaken it wasn't the doctor that eventually called it off anyway it was Pabon.
But yeah, looking forward to the rematch, the South African was doing well
It's an ugly fight and an ugly win because of Vetyeka's hitherto unknown sharp noggin. It's not classy but just as expected from Nonito Donaire who would want to erase any doubts as to who between him and Vetyeka is the better fighter and the true super champion at featherweights.
I would have wanted Nonito to take on "regular" titlist Nicholas Walters but that has to wait.
It was the right thing to do. Nonito still won the thing fair and square but the nature of the win will always leave a bad taste in people's mouths. Very classy. He didn't have to do it.
Donaire didn't look 100% motivated before this fight with Vetyeka. Maybe his wife n family wants him to get a regular real job, after he became a father.
I thought the title should never switch hand in a fight like we saw with Donaire this weekend, but class of him to see that and offer a rematch.
