Boxing: Is it true that Mayweather thinks Holmes is greater than Ali?

I haven't seen it but that wouldn't surprise me at all. Mayweather thinks he's the best. It's only natural that he wouldn't have too many kind things to say about those he is often compared to. I'm sure he doesn't give Robinson or Leonard high praise either.

.

Floyd is no fool. He won't come out and say those guys aren't great. But ask him about Robinson or Leonard (those he is most often compared to) and he will likely pick someone else above them.

.

It's no surprise that Holmes would be picked above ALI, according to some. ALI is widely considered the greatest. However, ask the same question in 1970 and both Louis and Marciano might appear before ALI.

.

Ask 100 people today who the greatest heavyweight is. Most, about 70% or more, would likely pick ALI.

.

Now narrow your list down to men of a certain age, who have actually followed boxing. ALI would still top the list but you will find that Holmes is closer to the top than he has ever been before. You will also find that ALI still tops the list but he doesn't dominate it.

.

Boxers aren't always the best people to discuss this topic with.

Most likely. Floyd claims to be TBE to Ali's universally acknowledged GOAT. I noticed that in contrast to many fighters who have attained elite status over the years since the 70s, it is only Floyd who does not talk much---and highly---of Ali despite him aping many of Ali's moves and desperately taking a page from Ali's own pre-fight build-up hype and yes,in proclaiming himself as the best.

If Floyd thinks Holmes is greater than Ali, I would say that Sugar Ray Leonard---who only has glowing words to say about Floyd---is definitely better than Floyd as a boxer, as a man and as a citizen of the USA.

Holmes did beat an old shot Ali. Holmes copied his style from Ali after sparring with Ali for 4 years. Sometimes you take from someone and improve it?

I won't be surprised if he does. Ali is the greatest and Floyd wants to be the greatest so that's his way of downplaying Ali's legend.

If you can't rely in Floyd's talking, much more that you shouldn't in his thinking. This boy is a fkng delusional azz.

He thinks he's the best ever. "The best ever" struggling against a smaller C fighter. He's trying to be funny.

He claims he is better than Al, broke all records, and so on.
