Boxing: What does Rigondeaux do now?

i can see both sides of story in one hand you have rigo coming off his biggest win of his career against donaire and and in the other we have a boxer that isn't fan friendly in his style . i do feel rigo brought it on himself a little his fight vs donaire wasn't entertaining for 90% of people ,watching a fighter walk around the edge of the ring for 12 rounds isn't that exciting to watch and i can't imagine rigo selling out arenas .

i feel for rigo but it's not a sin to want to enjoy watching an action packed fight rather than a boxing clinic, what would happen in britain would be that rigo would be with a promoter but not as the top of the bill he would be a chief support fighter .

all through history less exciting fighters haven't sold out stadiums that has been left to fighters like dempsey, marciano, tyson & tony zale, fans myself included like to see their fighters fight instead of 12 rounds not getting hit .

boxing is entertainment and it's not a sin to want action in fight .

It's disgusting. I won't say anything more, b/c it's pathetic and I'm angry Rigo is in this position.

I asked a question about this the other day, and my thoughts on it are in that question:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

F*ck HBO and TR. Chad Dawson has no fan base whatsoever, and in his day was just as boring as Rigo is, yet they showed literally EVERY fight he had for years.

People will b*tch about me saying this, but Rigo schooled and completely outboxed Donaire.

HBO/TR were certain Donaire would beat a good fighter like Rigo, and then proceed to keep benefitting from Donaire's name and put him in more main events.

Rigo spoiled the plan, and is being punished for it. The excuse that he's boring and has no fan base is ridiculous too, b/c (as I said) Dawson never had a fan base, and they are hyping Ward to the fullest, despite him being an okay draw at best and most definitely not exciting.

Double standards, either be consistent or f*ck off HBO.

I think that if Top Rank tries to put him on ice, he may have a chance to get out of his contract. I think he could find a home on Showtime and get shots at the names in GBP's stable, which are much better at the lower classes.

I disagree with Doc, that Rigo brought it on himself. He completely made a superior fighter, in Donaire, look foolish. That WAS entertaining. It wasn't the blood and guts fight that too many people think is the epitome of boxing, it was actual boxing. Just look at Donaire's face after the fight and tell me that Rigo has no offense.

I picked Donaire to win because I was one of those fans who thought that he would be too big and was quick enough to push Rigo out of his defensive style and into different territory. What I learned that night was one of two things, Either Rigo is able to step up and down his game according to who is standing in front of him (which is talent) or Donaire bought into his own hype too much and came in thinking he was facing another good but beatable guy. Either way, Rigo put on a good show and I agree that this is more about the "fans" lack of boxing IQ than Rigo's "boring" style.

Unfortunately there are too many who buy tickets just to see two guys slap each other around rather than to watch the beauty of hit and don't be hit.

Well, I feel sorry for the guy. I mean, those who can't appreciate Rigo's talent should watch MMA instead. Boxing is sweet science and Rigo just plays the part. What does he do? Well, he should start knocking guys out to get the lucrative fights.

Rigo has to find a way to extricate himself from his contract with Bob Arum on the ground of blatant bias against him and his style of fighting leading to utter disregard and neglect of what's good for his boxing career. Rigo has to join GBP where the big names fighting in and around his weight class are.

lwell Rigondeaux should go back to olympics..

hes a boring fighter in pro...

Disgrace not the most exiting style but I like his fights because of his skill sounds like HBO just want aturo gatti types.
