Boxing: What will the top 10 pound for pound be in 2017?

Predict and explain...

1. Golovkin

2. Ward

3. Mares

4. Moreno

5. Kovalev

6. Trout

7. Matthysse

8. Donaire

9. Rigondeaux

10. Brook

I've gone for:

Brook at 10 because I think he'll be at the height of his prime by then and will have fought enough good boxers to scrape into the top 10

Rigo at 9. This is because there are a lot of good young boxers in and around his weight division and by 2017 he will be past his prime and will fall down the rankings.

Donaire at 8. His powers will start to decline but his trusty left hook will see him win some big fights that year.

Matthysse will be at 7 because he is already one of the best in his weight division. Once Floyd, Pacquiao and Marquez have gone there will be a lot of boxers fighting it out for the top spot in the welterweight division, and I see Matthysse coming out on top.

I've gone for Trout at 6 because he is an extremely talented boxer who will be in his prime and will be the top middleweight in the world by this point.

At 5, I've gone for Kovalev. He has all the attributes to make it to the top and I find it difficult to see anyone who could beat him except for Ward who I think will be in the same division by then, which is why I have Ward higher placed.

Moreno at 4. He will move up in weight and will dominate the super bantamweight division after Rigo, Donaire and Santa Cruz have moved up.

I've put Mares at 3. He'll have many battles with Donaire, Santa Cruz, Carl Frampton, Mikey Garcia and Rigo, and I see him coming out on top. He could be number 1 but other boxers will be taking the headlines.

Ward will be at number 2. He will have been up to number 1 but lack of quality opposition will see him drop to 2. He will have a hard time getting a fight with Kovalev, who will be his biggest rival in the light heavyweight division which he will have moved up to.

At 1 I have gone for Golovkin. Presuming he ends Martinez's reign at Middleweight, and then moves up to Super Middleweight, I don't see anyone at that weight who will trouble him. He could catch Carl Froch at the tail end of his career and score big points for a win over him. The new guard at the weight wont have enough to beat Golovkin and Ward will have moved up by now, so I think Golovkin will dominate the division until a new superstar comes along.

Hi Sean! Sir this is a tough one since we obviously can't predict the future but boxing has some great young stars at the moment so we can kind of tell some of the next big stars. Assuming Pacquiao, Mayweather, Martinez, Marquez, and Cotto all retire, then heres what I think.

1. Andre Ward. He's already #2 P4P, and although he's been injured, he'll come back ready physically and mentally.

2. Timothy Bradley. Undefeated and although many believed he lost to Manny Pacquiao and had another tough fight after, if he beats Marquez, he might possibly remain undefeated. In my opinion, he beats Thurman, Brook, Broner, etc.

3. Saul Alvarez. He'll be huge if he beats Mayweather, but even if he loses, he'll come back and become the future of boxing.

4. Mikey Garcia. Already has some very impressive wins against Salido and Lopez.

5. Adrien Broner. Young and undefeated. Although he ain't Mayweather, and he has flaws, he will be great.

6. Lucas Matthysse. Great knockout power, and his losses to Judah and Alexander were disputed. He destroyed Campbell and in my opinion will destroy Garcia.

7. Genaddy Golovkin. Also great knockout power, as we saw against Macklin.

8. Nonito Donaire. He'll come back from the Rigondeaux loss, but right now I can't quite say he's the next Pacquiao.

9. Guillermo Rigondeaux. We all saw him dominate Donaire. 2X Gold medalist

10. Abner Mares. He beat Darchinyan, Agbeko, Moreno, and Ponce De Leon.

1) Bradley

2) Mikey Garcia

3) Rigondeaux

4) Canelo

5) Golovkin

6) Matthysse

7) Mares

8) Donaire

9) Hopkins (just kidding haha but maybe though BHOP makes you wonder)

9) Gamboa

10) Trout

I would've said Ward, but he's had too many problems with his shoulder. I don't want it to be this way, but I see him as a great that never was.

Also no Broner because he will get KTFO if he tries to just lean back like he did with Paulie. If he faces a Maidana, he'll be bye bye.
