Boxing: (To I Shook Up The World) Does not liking Golovkin. make me racist?

Sean, is it genuine dislike or is it reaction to the GGG fans who say he is the only true boxer in the history of the world? I saw your question and actually disagreed with you/argued the other side, but I doubt that there is a racial component from reading all of your other stuff. Sometimes people go to the issue of race because it is easy and convenient.

I am also not yet sold on GGG but that does not make me a hater or a racist as among my favorite fighters of the previous decade were Kostya Tyszu and Yuri Arbachakov who by compariosn accomplished more in their prime than GGG has in the years he has been fighting and as world titlist. Both Tyszu and Arbachakov left aklmost nothing or very little to doubt about their superiority and dominance in their respective weight classes by fighting and mostly beating a battery of tough, highly rated challengers until age and great up and comers as Ricky Hatton and Chatchai Sasakul came along..

Daniel Geale is just about the only highly rated and accomplished fighter GGG has faced and beaten at middleweights and yet some fans and scribes are already comparing with the ATGs at middleweights!

The comparison with Mike Tyson is however is spot on, especially about how he, like Tyson until Douglas and Holyfield came along, has not been seriously challenged/threatened by the assortment of foes he has met thus far..

But GGG could still of course prove himself worthy and make a believer of many of us doubters now.

"Like" has nothing to do with it, you have to respect Golovkin's accomplishment's in the ring. When Grennady Golovkin gets in he ring with a big name opponent, he will take that next step, or he won't, time will tell. I "like" Manny Pacquiao, so I hope Pac duck's Golovkin, at this stage in his career he doesn't need to be fighting any young, talented sluggers....lol. As for Floyd, he has his hands full in the Sept. 13 rematch with Maidana, so Grennady will have to keep the label of "unproven potential" a little while longer.

My well know and admitted dislike of Tyson's behavior doesn't make me a racist and I respect what Mike accomplished in the ring, I simply don't condone rape of women and frown on KOing little old ladies after offering to help them carry their groceries, Odds are Mike mellowed out with age, we all do, but Teddy Atlas didn't chip Mike's teeth jamming a loaded 38 down his throat for Mike's polite treatment of his niece either. Those who make excuses for Mike's behavior are either ignorant or just as depraved as Mike was. Racism has nothing to do with it, it's an ethical position I simply chose to hold, Mike was an @sshole most of his life, and hopefully he has changed for the better with age, believe me there are plenty more, some far worse than Mike.

People dislike boxers for many reasons... Some are arrogant, others not fighting the elite, maybe they are from the wrong country, maybe they exposed a favourite boxer of yours..??

The lunatic who posts rubbish on here every so often (Auto-Krapper or something), goes on a rant about any boxer not European, or better still, a native of his bankrupt Greece.... Not being real champions, or are all duckers blah, blah, blah..... You take his comments with a pinch of salt... (Or embarrass him until he blocks you!)

I think very few genuine boxing fans are racist in any form? I think you may have picked Shook up the world wrong... I haven't seen the post that you refer to, but have respect for the same contributor, he makes interesting comments.

I am sure there are many people that do not particularly like GGG.... The same could be said about any boxer.

I don't like Golovkin. Dominating a weak 160 division is not interesting. Especially when the lineal champ is really a 154 pounder and belongs at 154

The bigger question is, how can you NOT like Golovkin. Dude's got the most crowd pleasing style ever ever, and seems to be willing to fight the big names. It's hard to not like him.

Sean...

To me you don't like any boxer that's a threat to Fraud. But that doesn't make you a racist. Maybe a "fraudist".

A) With that logic, what does that make all the Mayweather/ Broner haters?

B) If I am racist vs Golovkin, why do I like Klitschko, Malinaggi, Froch (although Ward is my favorite at 168) and Pavlik?
