Boxing forum: if donaire wins, whats next for him?

He will win. He is going to time Rigo perfectly when he trys to come in. Beautiful Left Hook KO like always in 5th round.

He's going to take some time off because his wife is pregnant. He wants to spend time with his family, but i see him coming back in Nov-Dec. He will probably move up to 126 and take on some of the guys you mentioned. I doubt he would fight Mikey though because they have the same trainer and I don't know if Nonito is willing to give up Garcia as a trainer. Mares will move up, but that fight will never happen just like May-Pac. Golden Boy and Top Rank have too much to deal with, and now HBO and Showtime are either one side or the other.

If Donaire wins, he becomes number 2 p4p in the world in my opinion, and should stay at junior featherweight to fight the winner of Mares vs Ponce De Leon. If Mares wins, which he should do, then Donaire vs Mares is a much bigger fight than any fight at featherweight would be.

Nonito vs Mikey Garcia would be bigger than Nonito vs winner of Mares vs PDL (I got PDL winning that fight). And it would be an easier fight to make considering Nonito and Garcia are both Top Rank fighters opposed to Mares and Ponce De Leon who are both Golden Boy fighters. The only road block would be the fact that Mikey Garcia's brother trains Nonito, so Nonito would most likely have to find another trainer because there's no way Robert Garcia would train Nonito to fight his little brother.

In an interview with Fred Sternberg, when asked about his weight, Donaire said that he was getting bigger and was thinking about moving up.

I think that win or lose he moves up in weight.

There is no if. When Donaire wins. :)

Will he move up to the featherweight division where there are some tough boxers waiting? Or will he stay in the 122lb division and continue fighting small guys?

Is he ready for the likes of Juan manuel lopez, orlando salido, mikey garcia etc..
