How is this going to help me become a better boxer?!?

I've been in your situation before and yup it sucks.. When I first started sparring the coach put me up against everybody in the gym and i got my *** beat pretty bad. Then when he found someone who could really kick my *** he kept me with him. It sounds unfair but it's actually a good thing your coach does this. In boxing you need to be ready for anything. My coach put me in all possible situations in boxing I even sparred against him and he's a 2 time wbc champ. It makes you a better boxer and you learn how to dodge the punches better. Keep sparring this guy and you'll eventually be able to beat him, Peace.

getting you @ss kicked by that guy is a good thing, think about it. if you went against a bunch of losers you can mop the floor with, come fight night you will get beat by someone better than those losers. so by sparring this guy he will show you what you must work on for example, you say you cant land a punch, i havent seen you so in my opinion you need to keep moving and throw combinations, PUNcHES IN BUNCHES thats a very important statement because if you keep throwing one punch then your opponent will guess your next move(which is that same punch you been throwing) so throw a few punches study your opponent and see how he reacts, always throw 2 or 3 punches to distract your opponent and make your last hit count. a more successful boxer studies his opponent and trains hard.

I used to think the same way but the coach is definitely not trying to be mean to you. In order to become a better fighter, you need good experience as well. It's very important to fight someone better than you.

There's only two choices when you're a beginner who really wants to be good. Which is you either choose to get your *** beat in the gym, or outside the gym.

you will always learn more in the deep end of the pool than you will in the shallow end.trust your trainer he knows best

Im 18, i've trained a little bit before so i have the basics down but im still pretty new to boxing, and i recently started training for a tournament coming up in a month. In sparring against other kids at my gym i do pretty good, but last week i was put up against a guy who has had over 100 fights and has been boxing for over 20 years. I Couldnt land a punch to save my life and he beat me like i was nothing. My trainer/coach told me that he is coming down every wednesday from now on to spar with me and the other kids at our gym. I dont see how me getting my *** beat and barely landing a punch is going to help me become a better boxer can someone explain this to me?
