As a boxing historian, I know that white Americans used to dominate their local boxing scene from the 1880's to the mid 1950's or so. When they started declining because they were not motivated and tough enough to make a living through boxing they started making the same excuses their African-American former servants make for about 15 years now:

"We go to other sports" - "We found new ways to make money" - "Who cares about the Olympics" - "Let's make fantasy matchups about jack Dempsey and Rocky Marciano to feel better".

I feel like I see the same thing, with different ''actors" now. Every time a Golovkin, Klitschko, Kovalev etc dismantles an African-American or Brit the story goes :

3. Once the denial is over and the funny excuses don't work anymore then they start JUST LIKE THEIR fellow white Americans in the past......the memories:
