HEAVYWEIGHT: Could Jon Jones cross over to Boxing?

It really depends on what you consider "success" because I think Jon "Bones" Jones is an amazing athlete and with that type of freakish ability I'm sure there are a handful of professional Boxers that he'd be able to beat.

However, if your question is can he cross over to Boxing and be as successful in the Sweet Science as he was in Mixed Martial Arts which is what I think your asking, my answer would "NO".

Most people look at an M.M.A fighters record and maybe the guy only has about 8 fights, so in reality he looks inexperienced but then you have to consider the fact that he might have been training in another Martial Arts disciple for close to ten years.

Jon Jones started wrestling in High School and wrestled all through college so that's nearly eight years of experience before he began to venture into MMA. You can't cross train in Boxing for a couple of years and think your ready for the Heavyweight champion.

"Bones" Jones could have success in Boxing versus "journeymen" level opponents and fringe contenders, but to cross over into Boxing at twenty-five or twenty-six and then be ready for the Heavyweight champion within three or four years is ludicrous. He could compete with ESPN Friday Night Fight level talent but not guys like Klitschko.

& take on top fighters hell no man lol they'd have a field day with jon jones. He could prolly beat a tomato can but guys like haye and guys like klitschko in a boxing ring hell no. A cage fighter is not a boxer & cage striking and Elite boxing is honestly two different things. He's better off in the cage where he can use his kicks and take downs which are the best things he's got. He could prolly beat haye and klitschko in the cage tho but in boxing where he cant use take downs and kicks & just rely on his hands against top boxers hell no the best striker in mma is the worst boxer in elite boxing the best mma fighters Hands game are not close to an elite boxers hand Game if we're talking about ring boxing especially not in his prime

No, this is like taking professional football players and trying to make them boxers. it does not translate.

Against a decent heavyweight Jones would not stand a chance, against the not so good he would win.

Hell no.

Boxing fans,

At 6 foot 4 inches, 204 pounds, with a reach of 84.5 inches, ......

Q 1. Could UFC/MMA fighter Jonathan Dwight 'Jon' Jones (26 years) cross over to Boxing successfully given his talents:

YES?

NO?

Maybe, with the right trainer/camp?

OTHER?

Q 2. Relatedly, if YES, how long before we see him taking on Vitali or Wladimir Klitschko?
