Many fighters were considered too short for their weight division, but were successful.
Dwight Braxton Qwai 5'6" tall, was light heavy weight champion.
Montell Griffin 5'7" tall, was light heavy weight champion.
Stevie Johnston 5'4" tall, was light weight champion.
And of course Mike Tyson 5'11" tall heavy weight champion.
There are many more fighters that could be named, but these happen to be my favorite.
Yes. I don't mean to discourage you, but at middleweight, you'll be facing fighters 5'10" and up. At 5'7", you should be fighting at 135 or 140.
That is relatively short for middle weight, but does not mean you can not do well..
youre a good size for boxing. good luck!
REMEMBER THIS. ...........................It's not the size of the dg in the fight ,it's the about the size of the fight in the dog................Go for it.
I've been training for a year specifically in boxing and am starting to preparing myself for a fight, I'm currently 5"7 and about 77kgs (169lbs) I've lost a lot of weight since beginning training but have found it harder lately to lose more weight as I was aiming to reach 69kgs...the weight I have isn't fat as I'm naturally stocky, but im not slow either and am usually quicker then most of the taller people i train with, but still have some room to lose more weight, some people I've spoken to think I'm to short for the weight class and others think that it could be used as an advantage, it would be good to get some people's opinions, thanks
