Thoughts on Golden Boy's Unofficial 140lb Tournament?

According to this article 6 boxers turned down the opportunity to fight with

Amir Khan now here's the catch the fight was going to end up taking place

in Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom. The fighters on the list that Khan's

promoter reached out to try to offer the fight were Vyacheslav Senchenko,

Juan Manuel Marquez, Humberto Soto, Tim Bradley, Josesito Lopez and

Jessie Vargas. I think both Juan Manuel Marquez and Tim Bradley would

of been impossible to make the fight with because they are promoted by

Top Rank Inc. and in Juanma Marquez he's co-promoted by Top Rank Inc.

and Zaffner Promotions on Mexico. The other guys on the list were some

of the top Jr. Welterweight contenders so, the only opponent willing to go

and fight Amir Khan was former Lightweight Champion Julio "Kid" Diaz and

I agree with the consensus Lucas Martin Matthysse will win the tournament.

I gave up a long time ago trying to understand the politics of boxing, and really I don't care. I'm just an old fan and always have been. As flawed as boxing tourniments are, I still love them.

I like the idea And still think that Garcia has a good chance of winning this if it ever comes off. It does give Kahn the advantage though. I don't think Kahn deserves a by, but YES you made a good point. Kahn is probably the main draw.

I like this tournament a lot, and Khan is definitely at the top b/c he brings the most money to the table, and is by far the biggest draw.

This tournament should be called, "MATTHYSSE KNOCKS EVERYONE THE F*CK OUT" though. I'd say that's the proper title...

^^^

What he said.

"MATTHYSSE KNOCKS EVERYONE THE F*CK OUT" - I'd pay to see that!

Richard Schaufer has basically said he wants the winner of Judah - Garcia and the winner of Peterson -Mateysse to face each other and then the winner of those 2 will get to fight Kahn.

Natrually the first thing that comes to mind reading this was why is kahn being put up on a pedastal?why is he not having to fight himself?

and then i realised it must be to do with money.I think this move proves Kahn is the main draw at 140lb's.if he wasn't they wouldn't be so nice to him?

what are your thoughts on this development?
