Is Gennady Golovkin a hype job?

Think about what you said.

"Golovkin and his team better stay far away from Andre Ward because that is something Jeff Lacy and his people failed to do when they rushed to get a fight with Calzaghe."

So, GGG should stay away from the best fighter from 160lb-175lb, and you think he'd lose to SOG....but how does that make him overrated?

The Lacy comparison isn't right at all either. Lacy was overrated for superficial reasons. He was a jacked up, ripped to the bone black dude who could punch. He looked like a fighter, rather than actually proving how good of one he was.

Lacy would struggle against iffy competition, despite winning. Golovkin is wiping durable and solid guys out left and right with no trouble.

I agree SOG would beat Golovkin, though it's a great fight. Golovkin would DESTROY Martinez at this point though.

Lou DiBella was asked if Martinez would fight Golovkin, and DiBella's response was , "Sergio is not fighting that f*cking animal".

DiBella has been around the game forever. He and everyone else knows that Golovkin is hyped for a real and legit reasons.

The guy is not all hype i mean he has knock out power and with knock out power comes this advantage no matter where you are in the fight how much trouble your in you can still have the power to end it with a single punch. Just because he has not beat a top 10 middle weight yet does not mean anything. He is prolly one of the most feared guys at 160

I really hate how some boxing purist see a knock out artist and call him unskilled just because he does not posses the boxing skills purist love to see does not mean he is a bad fighter.

Here is what i saw in the Macklin fight it was a lot like the Matthysse fight with Patterson GGG upped the pressure and its hard to box when your running for your life trying to avoid a punch that would put you on the canvas.

Golovkin is a very solid boxer and amazing puncher at 160. He deserves a lot of credit, but people are talking about him blowing out Martinez and facing Andre Ward... Some are even speaking of him vs Hagler or Mugabi. He is only 27-0 people!!! He is 0-0 vs top Middleweights! He has never fought a top 10 guy. Yeah he has 24 KOs, but stop drinking the all time great Kool Aid... He gas to fight someone...Atleast Quillin, Pirog, it Chavez to deserve a Martinez fight.

The same people hailing him as the next pound for pound king criticize Adrien Broner who has won world titles in 3 weight classes. Broner's first fight at 135 was against the #1 ranked guy and he destroyed in 8 rounds. Anyone calling me biased needs to look in the mirror. Broner has 22 KOs (only 2 fewer) and has done it vs tougher competition, while jumping weights.

That's all.

Yes and no. He is a very good pressure fighter because he is always cutting off the ring and always in a position to attack. Overall, however, we cannot really know how good he really is because he has too much power. He hurts his opponents so easily that they just go into survival mode. I'm not blind like most "boxing fans". I don't look at things like power, speed, knockouts, or entertainment and see it as skill. Power is nothing but power and Golovkin has a lot of it. That doesn't make him a very good fighter.

I think we will have to see him fight more, before we determine how good he is. We still don't know how good his chin is. How he would react to someone else who has power and can take a punch. Imagine him vs. a prime Margarito(if he were a middleweight). I think Margarito would destroy him.

We will see with time.

Um no Adrien Broner is the number 1 hypejob atm

If he keeps KOing top middle weight contenders it's more than just hype.

Jeff Lacy has a better resume in my opinion, and I remember the same hype of Lacy when people were referring to him as Tyson too. Has anyone Golovkin beat better than the Robin Reid that Lacy fought? It might be a mistake to put Golovkin in even with a leg issue Sergio Martinez, and I know for a fact Andre Ward would school Golovkin in a lop-sided Decision win.

Golovkin and his team better stay far away from Andre Ward because that is something Jeff Lacy and his people failed to do when they rushed to get a fight with Calzaghe.
