Boxing: Will boxing ever produce a hollywood moment that surpasses The Rumble in the Jungle?

What are you talking about? Mayweather vs Canelo has the most PPV's ever so that surpasses everything, right? Floyd logic is never wrong!

On a serious note, I think maybe Pacquiao vs Mayweather had a chance to come close to creating a fight which everyone watched and was talking about in 2009/10 but not now. Something close to the rumble in the jungle could take another 50 years to transpire.

No The Rumble in the Jungle was October 30 1974. It may have been originally scheduled for this date. I actually though it was the end of September until George obtained a cut eye in training. No boxing will never be treated like this again. This was the golden age of boxing and especially the heavyweight division.

Of course something could surpass that. Who knows what fighters there'll be in 50 or 100 years's time?

PS. I thought Mayweather Alvarez was the highest grossing PPV.

Yes. It will take something major though. Their are a few fights out their with some years in the making, might touch it.

maybe if the klitchkos fought each other

It was the 40th Anniversary of The Rumble in the Jungle yesterday and it got me wondering whether there will ever be a such a perfect fight again.Ali vs Foreman was on such a big stage and the whole world watched on while the unbeatable foreman was flattened by the old and supposedly over matched Ali.

My question is in regards to the story that had been building up to this fight for years, both from a political and sports perspective.I'm not referring to any technical brilliance as there was a lot left to be desired in that sense.I'm talking about the circumstances that built up to and surrounded the fight, and then how the fight itself played out.It just all just seemed to come together perfectly in what i consider the most inspiring moment in sports history.

Will boxing ever be treated to such a legendary fight again?
