Great question. The easy answer is Yes, Floyd Sr. is a bit jealous of Freddie. There are So many reasons for this. However, some of it is understandable, even if it's not agreeable.

First, there is an unwritten rule in life that you can't bad-mouth a person everyone likes. It only makes you look bad. This certainly does not do Floyd Sr. any good.

Floyd Sr. has certainly done a good job as a trainer. However, he has a very volatile personality. Roach is no angel. However, people admire his brutal honesty and he usually only attacks when in retaliation to being attacked.

Floyd Sr. comes from the blackest part of Black America. That type of person usually grows up with nothing, trusts no one and experiences so much hatred and bitterness that he becomes his own worst enemy. This is because he doesn't realize why people don't want to be around him.

It's similar to the ways people view Pacquiao and Floyd Jr. The difference is that both are very rich. People tend to give rich people a pass. Also, Floyd Jr. has learned some things that his dad hasn't. He knows how to turn it off because he has been spared a lot of the bitterness his father hasn't. He really has more to thank his father for than he might be aware of.

American Floyd Jr. doesn't fully understand why America embraces Foreigner Pacquiao so much, but reviles him. Again, it's understandable but, when you're in the thick of it, you don't see it as clearly as do others. Most don't see it at all. All they know is that they don't like Floyd Jr or Sr. but they love Freddie and Manny.

None of this is Freddie or Manny's fault and it's not the fault of any viewer that Floyd Sr. is so bitter. He just never learned that it's not a good idea to dump your problems on others. Even if you have a legitimate reason to gripe, most people don't want to hear it. It's not personal. They just either have their own problems to deal with or feel the normal unease that you're suffering while they aren't. It's just life. Not everyone deals with it as well.
I don't think Floyd Sr. is jealous of Freddie roach. He just gave his opinion but it came across as disrespectful. They are both successful trainers and they will not always agree with eachother.
He was jealous since day one and more when Manny KO Ricky Hatto where they both were the trainers. Sr. doesn't have a particular fighter where he can brag except Jr. who he claim became successful because of him. I would call it professional jealousy but nothing to take seriously. Sr was the main character why Jr. and Pacquiao wasn't fighting and nothing to add since everybody knew the words he said before.
Oh yeah, because the perfect record his son has and all the millions of dollars in the bank just isn't enough.

Freddie roach is a fraud as a trainer. Even Roy Jones called him and said that Freddie roach is a promoter not a trainer. Floyd mayweather sr. Is a much better trainer than Freddie roach and floyd jr. Is a testament to that, so he wins regardless. Floyd mayweather sr. Has also trained oscar de la hoya and other top contenders. Freddie is only associated with Pacioua that doesn't impress me because he got knocked out. So much for trainer of the year. Rule number one never pick up your feet as your going in for a punch. A great trainer would have established that from the beginning. I know Floyd sr. Would have but not roach because he doesn't pay attention to details like that. And if you haven't noticed all the TMT fighters are trash and have all been exposed. Lets face it whatever Mayweather Jr has only he can do it. Whatever DLH was taught by Sr he learned it well. So we can conclude he's an overrated trainer and always says he can perfect a guy and never does. Take a look at Gamboa for example who trained with Mayweathrr sr for a little. I seriously doubt if Mayweather Sr. remembers who Freddie Roach even is most of the time let alone maintains a conscious train of thought long enough to be jealous of Roach.
