Shavers had enough power to knock every heavyweight boxing champion out. He would need only one punch to knock Douglas out. Earnie had also underrated defense skills. The difference between Shavers and Tyson is that Shavers is dangerous for the whole 12 rounds, but Tyson is only dangerous in the first 3-5 rounds. I think that Earnie would knock Buster out in one of the later rounds. Buster Douglas is overrated, because Tyson is also overrated. Shavers however is underrated.

James Buster Douglas was susceptible to the overhand right, Evander Holyfield exposed that weakness. Earnie best weapon was the overhand right. Earnie Shavers by KO within 3 rounds.

Douglas was actually a very good boxer knowing all the tricks of the trade. He had a tremendous jab and would have avoided all the bombs that the smaller one dimensional Shavers would throw. TKO victory for Douglas in about 9.
