Is it smart to have a Energy drink before a boxing match?

got my second amateur boxing fight soon should I have a energy drink before the fight first I need to find a good brand

As long as its not fizzy should be fine something like powerade an hour before would work fine i know juan manuel marquez was drinking gatorade in his corner during his 3rd fight with pacquiao. I would recommend you have some wholemeal pasta and tuna around 2 hours before the fight and a banana around half an hour before the fight and keep hydrated that would work a lot better than an energy drink

Do NOT drink them regularly. If you do it on a daily basis, your body will start relying on it, and instead of getting energy when you drink it, you lose energy when you don't.

Only drink them on important matches, like example, for a title match. When you do, drink it an hour before. Since the body tries to clear out energy drinks from the body as quickly as possible, expect a LOT of urine (hence why I suggest drinking it as long as an hour before the match). Try to get it all out of your system as close before the match as possible. Also, you'll have to eat extra food (just do it), and water for hydration.

Have a LOT of water. Not only do energy drinks make you go urinate, but there'll also be your typical amount of water with that. AND since you're having an energy drink, you need extra water to go with that, and if you don't go to the restrooms right before the match starts, you'll be a human fire hydrant.

Following all those pointers, there are the ups to having an energy drink. You're in, "the zone (you'll know what, "the zone" is like when you drink one)". It's basically higher awareness, and you become a ninja. There's also adrenaline, and more energy for your muscles. A tiny plus: there's the psychological advantage of your opponent seeing you chug a can, because energy drinks (at least where I'm from) are related to hardcore people.

EDIT: Also pretty important. There's the slim chance that your body perceives the energy drink as poison (because it'll have been your first time drinking it). To prepare for that, you could drink an energy drink during the week that you aren't fighting in the ring. If you can't do anything like that to prep your body, all you can do is cross your fingers and hope that your body can adapt to change well.

Also, here's a basic rundown of how energy drink brands are (based off my own experience and what friends say). Monster is known for good taste (just so you know, collect the tabs (you can buy a bunch of epic stuff with them off of the website). Rockstar is cheap. Redbull is expensive, but packs the biggest punch in terms of energy.

Hey,

Honestly I would not recommend it. I mean its great for a burst of energy but it can make you crash quite hard. Also in energy drinks they do hydrate you but they also dehydrate you. Which is not good if you want to win a match. However if you win in 1 round maybe 2 I would say go for it.

Hope this helps.
