Is Lifting Weight's recommended for Boxing?

I am 16 Amateur Boxer and I wanted to know if lighting weights is recommended. I am 121lbs, If yes how much KG max? I also heard that weights isnt recommended. Thanks

depends on your body and how you feel...if you want/have a tyson physique then yes...if you want/have a calzaghe endurance body then no...doing a bit of weights wont make much difference eitherway....

Some do, some don't. Those that don't tend to come from a significantly older school. Joe Louis, Ali, and Frazier never lifted weights.

Guys today do: Tim Bradley, Andre Berto, Ricky Hatton all have.

Many fighters incorporate some weight lifting into their preparations. You want to think lifting for gains in explosive power though, never bulk. More muscles often means more energy demands which is why you see these bigger bulkier fighters getting tired as fights progress. You want to be lean, toned, and strong so if you are considering weights, make sure that you are lifting enough to add power, but not bulk you up.

I'm sure you could do some weight exercises to increase your punching power. There is no better training than just hitting a bag though. And you would not want to lift weights so much that you are too tired to do your normal training.

lifting weights is never good for boxing. Muhammad Ali never did weights.
