Will fans still buy floyd PPV if he fights every 4/6 months vs average fighters?

No way...i almost didn't even care about his fight with the pushover fighter Geurrero. If he fights the weakling Devon Alexander, might as well not even waste his energy. But i bet he will cherry pick DA and that other muscular dude that came out of the Boxing TV show Next contender. Too pathetic that he is trying to start sh!t with those dudes. I think Alvarez and Pacquiao might just be on the list, but who knows that cherry picker May.

Now THIS is one of the better questions that have been asked since the Mayweather move..very good question.

I guess what you are asking is, does the time away effect the build up and hype of Floyd? Will the lack of time between fights cause his fight numbers to drop.

I have to say I agree with your logic. Its one thing to pay fifty dollars once a year, its another to do it every four months for something you reasonably know the outcome to.

There is also the obvious, that as Floyd has to do consistent training now he will probably get sharper AND faster. His knockout ratio may likely come back, but is that enough for him to be a major draw and pull major PPV numbers?

If the draw to his PPV is for someone to actually have an opportunity to beat him, should he keep pitching shut outs, not likely at all. His numbers should plummet fight after fight. Now once he announces his LAST? That one will be a mile high PPV number.

The simple answer is no.

Floyd has got five fights left to do to complete his six fight contract with Showtime.

Now... Assuming all goes well, that would make Mayweather 49-0. There ain't no way Floyd will bow out on that score line... He will promote himself for the last '50-0' fight.

But there again, it's a big ask to beat another five world ranked contenders.. Floyd will have to choose carefully... It's a fine line between selecting an opponent that the fans will pay for, against an opponent that could be dangerous...

There is a limited amount of current world class fights out there - None of them are sure bets!

1) Danny Garcia - Floyd could handle him alright, he would never get in range of his power punches.

2) Lamont Peterson - This dude is a slippery character, I would still see Floyd licking him with ease.

3) Lucas Matthysse - This guy could present problems for Mayweather - Best to avoid him.

4) Amir Khan - Can match Mayweather for speed - Best to avoid him.

5) Pacquiaio - Best to avoid him.

6) Alvarez - Best to avoid him.

7) Marquez - Mayweather could handle him... The fans wouldn't want this fight.

8) Tim Bradley - Too tough for Mayweather, would be a gruelling 12 rounds. Best to avoid him.

9) Mike Alvardo - Too risky, Best to avoid him

10)Ruslan Provodnikov - Like the bad cop on Terminator, you couldn't beat him with a baseball bat!

As you can see, the chances of pulling off another five wins is not all that easy....Mayweather is 36yrs old, he can't keep going forever. He has never taken a real beating in the ring, and I would question how he would react if he was dragged into the trenches...

The next opponent should be interesting...

Answer - Mayweather will still sell ppv.... Any of the top ten listed above would be a sell out. There are as many people wanting to see him lose, as win.... It's a win / win situation for MoneyMay!!

If he will fight canelo or martinez, pacquiao im going to watch the fight either live or ppv...Thats a fact...

However, if its amir khan...LOL...hahaha...Im a fan of amir no doubt but i dont think he can beat floyd...

Its not his style or his work ethic that has a problem, which can be fixed...Its his chin, which cannot be fixed....

No, doesn't matter if you are a boxing fan or not.

Its plain-old-common sense. Why pay for something if you already know the outcome? Its like paying for a basketball game. The current US national basketball team vs current Greece national basketball team. Are you an "idiot" to pull money off your pocket when you know Greece is going to get whoop.

Here's what you do, bet on floyd with one of your friends. floyd wins automatically = free ppv

true fans pay to see fights,I guess I'm not a true fan, no wait you usually only get to see like the last 5 min on the news so yea I'd pay! he's worth it

one of the reason floyd gets such high PPV buys is because he doesn't fight often and most of his fights have been comeback fights of some sorts or a warm up to a super fight but now floyd is signed to fight 5 more times over the next 30 months and now manny has lost a couple of fights there's no big fight to look forward to for floyd , ok canelo is a big fight but i don't think floyd wants it and i think fans would get bored watching floyd vs fighters like ortiz or malignaggi . will fans still pay to see floyd in dull one sided fights or will his PPV numbers drop.
