Last night's Miguel Cotto vs Marvelous "Marvin" Hagler @ 160?

A Prime Marvin Hagler

This is no contest Hagler wins in less than 5 rounds.

No Middleweight of the last 20 years except maybe Roy Jones could have beaten Marvin Hagler, and I include the great Bernard Hopkins on that list. Hagler was just that dominant. There would have been no way that Miguel Cotto in any era or any iteration would be able to compete with Hagler.

That's like you having a fully-grown jaguar as a domestic pet at home. And then you felt like getting another pet animal to be of companion to your pet jaguar, and so you got a lamb to be its new "friend" for non-intelligible reasons . But, then you realised you have never made a big of a mistake and a stupid one at that in your life, ever.

Cuz Cotto will be food to Hagler.

Overrate Martini is no Hagler. Hagler can take mad pain and hits harder and stronger.

It will be the first time that Cotto meets somebody who is willing to meet him head-on in the center of the ring and fight him anywhere inside the square arena.

If Cotto does not back down chances are Hagler decapitates him inside two rounds.

If Cotto backs down and opts to box, sticks and moves as he did against Shane Mosley it will also be of noy much usel as Hagler continues his pressure moving forward and firing strong combinations which Cotto will never match. Hagler finally wears him down by the middle of the fight and knocks him out or stops him by the 7th or 8th round.

Cotto is no Sugar Leonard when it comes of mobility. maneuverability and boxing smarts and neither does he have Tommy Hearns ramrod jabs and powerful hooks and uppercuts which did not deter Hagler anyway..

I have to give Cotto credit for a fight I thought he'd lose. But that didn't look like Martinez in that ring and I didn't feel very confident for him in the few days leading to the fight.

.

Cotto deserves a lot of credit for his historical accomplishment but lets not get ahead of ourselves. NO version of Cotto belongs in the ring with Marvin Hagler. In fact, I can't think of too many top middleweights whom Cotto would beat. Roach should, and likely will keep him away from Golovkin.

.

Cotto was not fast at 147. Even though Hagler is no speed demon either, Cotto would be a sitting duck for Marvin's precision punching. Hagler would also have a clear edge in power and durability. He could fight Cotto in whatever manner he chooses.

.

Knowing that Miguel can't seriously hurt him, Hagler starts off fast. Cotto is forced into a war he can't win. He lacks the speed or defense to escape and the power and durability to discourage Hagler. It's just a matter of time for the inevitable.

.

Hagler by KO in 3.
