What do you guys think of Mike Tyson becoming a boxing promoter?

I am very excited about the promoter, Mike Tyson. I am so excited that I will attend their first card at the Turning Stone Casino, this month. I think Tyson's name will draw attention and interest to the sport. I think he is sincere in his desire to help fighters make it (and keep some of it), after his experiences with promoters. I only question his knowledge of promoting, but it seems he has surrounded himself with people who may help him succeed. We will see.

Let's be real Mike Tyson is no more of a promoter than my dog is. There are people with big money that are just using Mike's name to get in the door of this business. Mike is only a promoter in name only. I say why not Mike has every right to promote the sport as anyone else. The only thing I hate about the business end of boxing is all the snakes in the business this is a very dirty game. Mike is going to have to do some things that he is not going to like . Like take money from fighters the same thing he hated about the sport he is about to become. Most of you have never put a boxing show together if you did it one time you would never do it again. You would feel dirty for a long time after you left.

No one thus far has gone into boxing promotion to lose money. But I will give Iron Mike the benefit of the doubt. Nothing like a former boxer with pure intentions promoting fellow boxers.

I heard that Ricky Hatton is also into boxing promotions in Hongkong hoping to popularize and encourage practice of the Western-style sport among the culturally protective and discriminating Chinese., I wonder what has happened to his latest venture?

i think he may end up being the best promoter in the business. the other ones aint sh** and dont care nothing about boxing and it'll be good to have a real fighter from back in the satisfied fans days in the promoting business maybe he can help get it back to what it used to be if he can link with the right athletes who can pull it off

I would love for Tyson to be a promoter...but being fair he hasnt shown that he has the wit to keep up with the details of the job. Its alot of paperwork and smoothing ruffled feathers.

i dont know but some of these questions people ask about fighters fighting fighters in their prime id be rich they would be poor But sure let Tyson become a boxing promoter he was robbed by one for yrs

absolutely i agree and if i was a boxer id want him as my promoter but ii think oscars better then arum and king

Thats good for him,

He said that his main purpose of being a promoter is not about money like most promoters. Tyson stated in this video that I actually wants to be a reliable promoter who is really willing to actually help the sport of boxing.

Even though Oscar De La Hoya sold himself out as a former boxer and current promoter after claiming that he'll help at the beginning, I don't think Tyson would end up the same way. I can see it in Tyson that he's really sincere about becoming a much better promoter than guys like Arum, King, De La Hoya, etc.
