Howcome Tyson knocking down Buster Douglas for 11 seconds isn't talked about more? Plus great BQ's!?

I think the overall feeling is that the Tyson 11 second controversy is a whisper in the middle of Douglas not only beating but KO-ing Tyson who was seen at the time as a unbeatable wrecking machine. Also, Douglas won most of the fight, so a Tyson KO would have been a fluke on this night, not the KO that officially occurred.

In 2 years Ward won't be at 168. Haye would get schooled by Ward...

The myth about the "long count" by the referee especially the one that took place 20 years ago in Tokyo will forever be in the minds of fight fans.

Howcome Tyson knocking down Buster Douglas for 11 seconds isn't talked about more? Plus great BQ's!?

It was close but not anywhere 11 secs. Douglas stood up and Tyson wouldn't have enough time to finish him off because the bell literally saved Buster.

BQ1: Do you think GGG can beat Andre Ward at 168 in 2 years or will Andre's pure boxing neutralize the power?

- There's nothing that GGG had an advantage over Ward. The skill, power, height and reach is in the side of Ward. If there were three opponents that lasted the distance against Golovkin, a natural SuperMW especially in Ward's caliber will certainly last against GGG. Remember Froch, Abraham even Chad were all heavy hitters. Ward would of schooled Golovkin all night

BQ2: Would you want to see Andre Ward fight David Haye at a cruiser-weight catchweight in the future? I dont. Unless Ward decides to compete in HW where this fight could happen.

We don't talk about the first landing on the moon either. You know why? It was a long time ago.

BQ1: If Golovkin can land some good punches he would have a chance, but if not then Ward would out box him. Golovkin doesn't appear to be more than a C level fighters. He just happens to have monstrous power. One thing I will give to him is that he knows how to cut the ring off pretty well, but even in that he seems flat footed.

BQ2: No because I don't like catchweights. David Haye is a bum anyway so I don't know why anyone would want to see that fight. There really isn't anyone for Ward to beat right now. he has beaten the best at Super Middleweight. Only thing he can do is go up in weight and fight Stevenson because there is no point in fighting Hopkins or Dawson or any of the rest.

Douglas was a heavy underdog coming into the fight, his second attempt to win the world heaveyweight title after losing years earlier to Tony Tucker for the IBF crown. This despite the fact that Iron Mike was coming from a long lay-off and visibly not in his best shape. Nobody gave him a ghost of a chance against Tyson who had easily beaten Douglas's conqueror Tucker in unifying all the titles at heavyweights.

The boxing world therefore was in pleasant shock when Douglas not only stood his ground, fought Tyson punch for punch where he also get the better of the exchanges by using his size advantage but also had Tyson in deep trouble.

The fight was on that stage and it was for Douglas to win when while trying to fight his way out of a bind after being downed in an earlier sequence, Tyson in desperation threw a wayward uppercut that surprisingly caught Douglas flushed and sent him down on all fours. The change of event was so sudden that it also shocked the crowd and perhaps even the ring officials, too most of all the ref and the timer. It was claimed later by Don King that Douglas took the long count that enabled him to get up but who cared then and now? For Douglas brutally finished off Tyson in the next round and what lingered in the minds of most was the sight of Tyson almost unconscious on the canvas reaching almost blindly for his fallen mouth piece as the count reach ten.

BQ1: This reminds me of the rave over Lucien Bute until he got KTFO by Ward victim Carl Froch. I am not riding on the band wagon until GGG fights and beats a couple of top rated defensive boxer-counter punchers as Sergio Martinez and Felix Sturm and a big banger as Julio Cesar Chavez at 160 lbs.In 2 years, it is still depends if GG can get past the likes of Andre Direll, Mikkel Keeler and of course, the giant slayer Froch.

BQ2: I don't see that fight being doable at all. Haye is a big heavyweight now while I don't think Ward can even be this efficient past the light heavyweights.

Because the sh** happened over 20 years ago.

BQ1: I highly doubt Ward would even still be at 168 in 2 years

BQ2: "cruiser-weight catchweight"? If its at cruiserweight then its not a catchweight. But no, I dont think Haye has any desire to go back down to cruiser and Ward hasnt even made it to light heavy yet.

Because Douglas could have gotten up earlier if he had to, and because very few ten counts are actually ten seconds long. Selective memory from Tysontards.

It was fate that tyson lost that night. Karma can't get more real.

you know, i remember that long count

its funny, when i watched that fight live, i coulda swore there was a long count. but i watched the ESPN replay years later, and the long count did not seem as significant

lol tyson lost get over it
