Learn the basics of hitting a heavy bag. He can also get into shape for stamina such as running 3-5 miles and working his core. Basically get in shape and hit the bag.

You can, you just have to be a technician and a realist. Meaning be realistic and effective with your striking. Not thinking you can land a 8 punch combo. And study technique very carefully. Good luck brotha

You can learn everything about boxing at YouTube.

My nephew from Iowa always wanted to box. But due to location, no boxing gyms are around. The college he got accepted into offers boxing. What can he do his senior year to get ready for boxing with just a heavybag, gloves and a computer (for research)? When I boxed amateur, I was out of shape, but would win because I could hit really fast and hard. I was just so slow. He is half my size and around a welterweight (and i was heavyweight). What can he learn before he meets his instructer? I want to give him advice but I understand that different weight classes do require different skills. Well Besides the fact that I can't actually box, but I can hold my own for 3 rounds.
