Mac Foster vs George Foreman, 15 rounds, circa 1970, who wins?

Mac was the #1 contender for Frazier before losing to Quarry.George was still seen as a prospect. If they fought at this time, who wins?

Hi Zebbie! Both men can certainly punch, with Mac Foster having won all his 30 fights by knockout. George Foreman could punch. Nuff said. Now Foster as you said was the number one contender before getting knocked out by Jerry Quarry. Although Foreman was still a prospect without much experience, that does not mean he can't punch. If Quarry can stop Foster, so can Foreman.

Foreman KO4.

Hello Z and great question. I recall reading Ring Magazine every chance I get espec ially during that time period and Mac Foster was viewed as being a future Heavyweight Champion sporting that perfect record of his. He was also a big man standing about 6'4" and weighing about 225 lbs I believe. George Foreman was still raw but of course the Olympic Champion with thunderous power and size and also undefeated as well. So if this match could have been made, there would have been a big buildup for the fight with perhaps Foster even being the favorite. As far as the fight itself goes, it would have been a slugfest with some serious bombs being thrown. It would have come down to which fighter had the better chin most likely and that would have been Foreman. Keep these match uos coming Zebbie, thank you.

The fact that Foster lost to Quarry says it all. As inexperienced as he was, there was only one way to beat George, even at that time, and we didn't find that out until Oct. 74. Power hitter Foster wouldn't have done it because, along with his power, George was rugged and durable. He would be able to take whatever Foster could dish out.

It's widely believed that Earnie Shavers hits even harder than George Foreman. While I agree with this, I still think even he would have lost to George. Besides ALI, the fighters who would have beaten George, even at that time, were from different eras. Had there been no ALI, George would have ruled until he grew bored and lost the title from some lack of preparation. Had ALI never defeated Foreman, neither would Jimmy Young have.

Foreman by KO in 3

Foreman KO RD 1. Foreman was 12-0 11 KO's in 1970. I don't think Mac could off stopped Foreman from doing major damage.

Foster was 20 -0 with 20 Ko's when he met Jerry Quarry . Quarry took him out with a left hook basically to the liver and then against the ropes he took out Foster. Foster didn't know how to tie up Quarry who was a lot smaller. Foreman would KO Foster also. IMO.

George Foreman by early knockout. Even with his inexperience he would of overpowered Foster.

despite foster's power, foreman still dominates this one, unless george lets his guard down like he did aginst lyle, in which case foreman has to work hard for the ko.
